Whodat Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well the son and friends have camp set up from what I hear! Going to be interesting tomorrow.I think were heading down about midnight unless we get the the early itch.
timsfly Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 it is a snowing but I don't think we have more than an inch or so on the ground, but it is cold. but the MDC stocked over 7500 trout and there were several in the river, so the guys that can fish in the cold are going to do well. Whodat Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Well, we got the early itch and probably a good thing for driving conditions. We got at the park about 8:30 lastnight got our tags 1001-1004 and homesteaded the campsite.Needless to say I froze my old man but off the nexted morning. We fished the upper end by the bridge and got out of the truck at 6:15 and walked right over to our spot. Not near the people that is usually there.First cast hooked up but unhooked before I got it in.Second cast a 15 inch nice bow. About 3 or 4 cast later another nice 14-15 inch bow and got my hook snagged in the net and after about 15 minutes of screwing with this my hands were froze up,cut the line, net and said the he.. with this! Got back to Springfield about 9:00am and seen 19 cars in the ditch between the river and Aurora. Be safe, going back this week when we warm up.
wily Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 we didn't make the buzzer -- we had planned on it but the weather kept us away. me, my 7 year old, and fil got to the park about 930. i think my tag was 1584. we let out about 12. the fishing was good. lots of large fish were caught. the biggest i heard was 9 lbs. my son had a large one on a black roostertail -- maybe 4-5 lbs on for a blink...it was basically right at his feet, and each time he'd reel in it would nip at his lure. well one time it got a little too close. he yelled i got him. i looked up and the fish was running right up the bank. in no time it was at the other end of the pool...once it got there it turned and jumped. and when it did his line broke. would have been great to catch it. but hopefully he'll have another chance at a big one. he loves to go. boy -- it was cold. when that wind blew it was freezing.
binman Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 I caught a nice one about 3.5lbs. good fight but cold one out there I think I was tag number 160 Brandon Inman

binman Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Wild hunter you would have had to be in line while we were then I had 6 people with me and I think we had a couple tag #'s in the 150's even there was alot of room this year fishing and just not so many people the guy's/gals that braved the cold should have done very well I know we did up until we all got cold and said let's go home Brandon Inman
