That is the fishiest pond in the country. I don't ever fish for those nasty smelling toothy critters on purpose but sometimes they take your bait anyway. Lots of times they like it enough to keep it for themselves.

Pomme is my Dad's baby. He lives just a couple miles from the lake.

His philosophy is this, 'If it bights my lure then it wasn't an accident.' Deep down though, he is more of a walleye guy who chases whites.

I go a few times a year with him and he just fishes to see what happens.

I personally target the muskey on purpose but I have a propensity to go after what is going to be the hardest to catch.

I dare you to catch a few three foot tigers and say you don't want to seek more. It is quickly addictive and a great thrill.

Coyote,

The locals around the lake like May for Muskie. I have had my best luck in October though.

Although, my two largest (42 inches and 48 inches) were both caught in June.

I think a lot of it has to do with rain, water clarity and the location of the thermocline. I find eighty percent of what I catch to be positioned in open water between nine and twelve feet. They are almost always near humps that drop into thirty foot of water (or so).

Just my two pennies on what I have experianced. Like I mentioned, I am lucky to get up there maybe three times a year.

Can't go wrong with wiggle warts for Pomme bass. Same thing goes for whites. I prefer to troll while at Pomme. Opens up the diversity of species. You can usually pull a few walleye this way.

I dont think Muskies accidentally grab anything. And if you fish Pomme enough you will have a musky encounter. Ive had them nab bass that were chasing my zara spook, Ive caught them fishing for bass, Ive caught them fishing for them, Ive had more than I can remember break me off, Ive had them turn away from a lure at the boat and splash (and scare the crap out of me). I once saw my dad turn one on one of those tiny poppers that you fish for bluegill with. That lake is full of them, and other fish too!

Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.

conman,

I love the Pomme. I have fished it a lot over the past few years. I Bass fish over 90% of the time while on the water. I will catch a couple muskie every year while bass fishing. Most of the time while throwing a crank. I have seen my dad catch one on a finesse worm.

As far a Bassin, a lot of guys catch 'em on Jigs, Cranks. When the water gets high you can flip w/ success. Spinner baits and plastic worms are also good. When Pomme gets hot you can catch a bass on about anything. The main lake has some good off shore stuff. The rivers are also very good.

Just like any other lake, remember; water color, water temp, bait fish, spawn, and other lake and weather conditions will tell you what the fish are doing. If you really like fishing Pomme there are several local tourneys at Pomme every year. Get plugged in to one. Good luck man!

He claims to catch walleye everytime he goes and he does when I am with him.

You won't catch him on the water if it is below fifty though. And if the wind has the water just a tad choppy, he gives it up.

I guess he is getting old.
