Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 25, 2009 Root Admin Posted February 25, 2009 You're going out pretty early... so don't expect alot. If it's not windy, you're ahead of the game. I'd drift a minnow or shiner on the flats or close to the drop off to the channel and I'd start at Beaver Creek and go all the way to K Dock. Stay on the inside bends where the flats are. 10-12 feet of water is where we did the best. Expect light bites. Otherwise swimming minnows on the bottom same structure/areas. May be fish the bottom in the channel for whites from Beaver down past Cedar. Have to local where they are first. That will be the hard part.
Dutch Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 From what I have seen and heard they have been few and far between lately.
Sam Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 It's still real early, and while some good catches of white bass and crappie have been found - it's still more missing than hitting right now. Also, this time of year the weather out in a boat is miserable a lot more often than not. If your wife's like mine, she'll enjoy a trip where she catches fish without being too uncomfortable. With that in mind, I'd wait a few weeks to take her. Watch the trees for easy fishing - when the redbuds are blooming it's white bass time, and when the dogwoods bloom she oughta catch a bunch of crappie.
crappiefisherman Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Plans changed a bit , and my son and I went for a trip to beaver creek.Saw millions of shad, and I came across some of those schools of hundreds if not thousands of 2 inch crappie. If the whites get in there soon they will have a food smorgasborg. The water is a little higher then I like and the banks are muddy muddy . Dutch Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 BS is right at power pool but if we get any spring rains, Katy bar the door because it will be up in a heart beat.
