Thom Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Zach: Great attitude. I cartainly wish you God Speed in your recovery. My father was the victim of a simular accident but in the coal mines. He was covered up and thought dead. When they dug him out he was paralized from the waist down for life. He had the same attitude as yours and began to do everything he set his mind to. He never missed one of my basketball games or football games. One night there was 14 inches of snow and we had a big conference game. He insisted on going and all of the parents literally carried him over the snow and into the front of the bleachers. He never quit or gave up on any of his goals and that was the inspiration of others of us who saw his example. "Some people say why while others say why not" John Kennedy I just heard another great man write and I quote " I will continue to do everything I did before the accident" Zsmith62 Hang in there. Hope to see you on the stream someday. Thom Harvengt Thom Harvengt
bigredbirdfan Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 The way I see it, this is just god's way of making things a little more of a challenge because they were just getting too easy before... What a wonderful attitude. I was just commenting to my wife tonight that everyone with adversity seems to have wonderful attitudes. I saw a cover at the grocery that had Michael J. Fox on it and he said happiness is a decision. I had noticed a post a few months ago letting us know what happend and I am sure sorry to hear the outcome. Just keep that kinda outlook and go get all those fish you missed. BRBF
patfish Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Zach, good to hear from you, FINALLY. I had sent BuckNasty a PM about a month after his post about you to see how you were. I got no answer. Didn't know what to think. Well, now I got my answer - from you. Keep the attitude kickin and you'll be just fine. As everyone else said, whenever I'm down your way, I'll give ya holler. Until you get out again, we'll keep the fish porn coming your way. Peace.
zsmith62 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Once again, thanks to all who replied and offered to help with my particular situation. I really appreciate all of the support and good words. I do hope I can provide an inspiration to those with a similar condition. Besides i don't consider this to be a life sentence, like I said before, with medical research where its at, theyre only 5-10 years from fixing this condition. I repeat - this is not a life sentence, im servin my 5-10 and then Im getting fixed up. Thats one of the things that keeps me goin day to day. Patfish- I think the reason bucknasty never replied was because he is away at school and hasn't really done much fishing since i got hurt, just because him and i usually fish together when hes in town, so he may not be spending much time on the site. DoveTail Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Glad to hear you are doing better. Excellent outlook and attitude, I know with today's technology and medical practices you should be up and walking. Glad to hear you can hit the water. That will do a lot for the mental side for everyone.
Andy & JoAnne Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Zach, I sent you a PM. Take a look. Glad your spirits are high. You are one tough guy. Take Care and God Bless
