Members whitebassman Posted March 18, 2009 Members Posted March 18, 2009 Hello everyone! Went to Beaver Monday, planning onjust tearing them up, wrong. We didn't catch a fish till probably 11:00 or so. The water level has dropped considerably since last Saturday. That cold snap we had last week must have affected them more than I anticipated. All the fish we caught were right at the end of Slough Hollow, right above the bluff on Sanders' farm. They were all males, nowhere near ready. The water is really clear, and shallow up at the Whistles. I would say it will be another week or two, before much happens over there. I'm starting to here some really good reports from Norfork. I think I might try over there this week sometime. Until next time Happy Fishin' God Bless!!
Sam Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 My partner and I went out of K Dock yesterday (Monday) and fished between there and Snapp Holler. Our experience was about the same, we found a few male white bass but really had to work for them. A week earlier we'd limited out in a shallow cove the wind was blowing into, but they've scattered since then. I caught and released a nice smallmouth, my first of the year. An interesting thing happened - my partner caught a 12 1/2" yellow perch. I've caught some little yellow perch out of upper Bull Shoals before but none big enough to keep. My wife and I had fish filets from yesterday for supper tonight, and the yellow perch was real good. It's about like walleye, real white and mild tasting - no wonder the folks up north like those.
Dutch Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I fished BC today and had hand sized whites which I could count on one hand. I think I am going to save some money and stay home for a while.
duckydoty Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 DD'sMC and I fished the upper end to Slough Hollow with the same results-----Zero! Couple more days I guess. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Dutch Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I'm thinking a couple of more weeks. I don't even know of much happening all the way to KDock and they have to migrate from somewhere. Maybe they are not back yet as good as we thought.
