fishinwrench Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 The Berkley Tactix rods seem to fall (pricewise) in between the LR's and the Series Ones but nobody near me has any of them on the racks, so I haven't had a chance to handle one. The pics online look pretty decent and I'm thinking about ordering the 6'6"ML-2 for a beater Smallie rod to keep behind the seat of my truck..... How do they stack up ? LR's are a great rod for the $$$....always have been, but darn if they don't get uglier every year. Wish I'd have bought a truckload of the old ones (back in the day)
Members crappie crippler Posted March 24, 2009 Members Posted March 24, 2009 I know where you can get a custom made smallie rod. Probably don't want to put it behind the seat of your truck though. Berkley Rods are pretty good choice, but they are getting ugly. Fish don't care what they look like. If you are confident in them, go for it. I LOVE THE SMELL OF FRESH GOGGLE EYE IN THE MORNING!

Thanks, I have a pair of StC Avid's that are my main stream/river rods. Just looking for a decent feeling 2pc. ML in the 50-60 dollar range. I like the handle and guides on the tactix, but nobody seems to know anything about them. I may just order one, try it, and then auction it off on ebay if I don't like it. I've looked into building one myself, but I can't buy the components I like for what most finished rods sell for...much less the time it takes to put it all together.
