Whodat Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Phil, can a guy catch these whites off bank or do we need a boat? Thinking of bring the wife down.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 25, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted March 25, 2009 You can drive thru the field road and get to the lake from the road that runs from the Swan Creek Bridge to Powersite Dam but it's going to be real muddy with this last rain now. There are several paths to the lake. Some are steep. Bank fishing below the dam isn't bad and I've done real well up there in past years. Then there Swan itself... not sure if you'll find anything there yet but you never know. Right place- right time.

(i.e. 18 plus one was more like 20') However, we got them all after dark so you can't keep them. Angler At Law

Ozarkgunner: FYI- As long as you're not in the creek area above 160 bridge you are allowed keep walleye after dark during the period below, or at least that's how I've always understood it . "Walleye and sauger may be taken throughout the year--except from February 20 through April 14, when they may be taken and possessed only between one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset in the Swan Creek Arm of Bull Shoals Lake above Highway 160 and in the unimpounded portions of all streams, except the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Walleye and sauger may not be possessed on waters or banks thereof during closed seasons or hours."

If they're out in the lake there's no restriction on keeping legal walleye.
Members whitebassman Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 Phil the white have all but shut off in Beaver. I'm glad to see you catching some fish of size also. Got into them last week at K-Dock cove and had some good fish but even those have shut down. Hope this cold front doesn't turn them back to deep water. Remember about 4 or 5yrs ago when the sows come up then it got cold and the studs stayed but the majority of sows blew their eggs on the sand flats in the lake.... hope it aint one of those years. Did catch some nice slab crappie at K-Dock on Sunday morn kinda weird not around brush but on the sand flat. Keep me posted on how your doing and I will do the same since I live in Kissee Mills. Bubby, must be nice to be down there catching them big sows every night after work. Send me a pics of those last ones you caught Wednesday night. Later!
Members Jeff Burkhart Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 Fish tonight off the bank just upstream from Swan. From 5:30 till dark caught 13 and some real nice sows. Hope they're still there tmrw night going to flip the fly rod at them tmrw night weather permitting.

We were above the bridge (in fact we were right under the dam on the powersite side) so no keeping walleye after dark but it is still fun to catch them. Angler At Law

Ozarkgunner - Sounds like you were above the 76 bridge, which is still the impoundment portion of the lake, so keeping walleye is fair game if you so choose to keep them. The bridge in reference is the 160 bridge you cross over heading to Shadow Rock from Forsyth.
