FishinCricket Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I assume this pisses you off so bad you can't even comment? Me too... How can you build a system like that WITHOUT a shut off valve? Wow.. Just wow. (nice comment on that link, fishinwrench) cricket.c21.com
brownieman Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 That's too bad...the Dam area itself has a terrible odor problem, I just hope the water quality is not as bad as it smells...sometimes while fishing there it just down right stinks...lots of floating debris, just does not look or smell good at all. I would say our waters are more polluted than we will ever know...often IMO the ones that are responsible for protecting against these type things inflict numerous incidents that are kept quiet. It's disheartening to me the damage to the Current that comes from the hatchery and campground at Montauk. Just below the park boundary there is a pipe housed in concrete that sticks directly in the river. This pipe comes from the sewage lagoons that service the campgrounds. I suspect what comes from that pipe is not a good thing, I don't care what anyone says. The raceways are flushed straight into the river. The sludge from the raceways used to be pumped out but that was abandoned years ago. The way it used to be done was much better I feel but I guess was too labor intensive. Due to this the fertility downstream is much higher and the algae and smuck in the river is more than apparant...closer you get to the park the worse it is. Like I said, JMO but in years to come clean water is really going to become an issue that is hard to deal with to say the least...it's already an issue I guess but I just don't see it getting better. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Members ChipperT Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 http://www.lakesunleader.com/news/x1465811...nto-Osage-River Such a shame that a beautiful lake, such as LOZ, can't be properly maintained and preserved as the valuable resource it is. I fished below Bagnell a hand full of times this winter and 50-60% of the fish I caught had growths on them - especially the crappie. While fishing at LOZ a couple years back a buddy and I decided to take a dip to cool off and man oh man did it burn our eyes . Seems as winter is really the only good time to really enjoy this lake. Come summer I'd rather just not get the boat dirty by subjecting it to those waters. LOZ is not the only waterway I've notice this on. Down at Table Rock just 50 yards west of the bridge in Kimberling City there's a big pipe that runs into the water. On more than one occasion (while night fishing) I observed, what smelled like raw sewage boiling up from the aforementioned pipe. Needless to say I wasn't pleased with this type of activity. I'm not one for over regulation, but something needs to be done to protect our waters here in the ozarks!
Members jesse Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 i've also caught alot of fish with growth's on them, mostly catfish though. i brought a bunch home one day and me and my women where cleaning them and im pretty sure there was a tape worm in it if that's even possible,i dont know but it was transparent white and flat, whatever it was it was gross and i wont be eating anymore catfish for a long time. i just like catch and release most of the time anyway...never keep the big one's,just bring a camera with me and take a pic then letum go.
