techo Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Took the neighbor (also great friend) and his eight year old out fishing today. We were looking for the bluegill that always seem to pester me, but only found a few. We put in at Aunt's Creek and fished the transition banks in the area. Caught a couple of fifteen inch Kntucky's on the smoke/pepper grub in about fifteen feet of water. The morning was chilly with wind. The wind died down a little after noon and we didn't catch another fish after that. Met S/M out there in his Champion. He seemd to be faring better than us, but I will let him share what he was using if he wants to. I thought I saw SkeeterP and Nitroman at Schooner's , but didn't get close enough to tell. Water temps 51-55. It was an awesome day and Mason, the eight year old, was all smiles the whole time. Tim Carpenter
dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 That is a super day! Looks like he thought you were blowing down the lake at about 90mph! Any time you can make a kid smile like that at something besides a tv, you have just won round one. Nice work.
S&M Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 It was a pleasure to meet you Tim. The pictures of the boy tell the whole story of how much he enjoyed being out of the water fishing, well done ! I'd rather hold off on telling what I'm throwing right now until after this Saturdays tournament. It has been producing quality fish for the last 2 weeks. Today I bagged around 18 pounds using it which might get a check. Saturdays weather may change what I'm using right now, I'll no more after the first hour or so of the tournament. I have a back up plan though just incase, lol Are you sure the Mrs wants to fish with you on Saturday ?.....the weather is looking pretty brutal. Mike, How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
techo Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 Mike, I thought you might want to keep it under your stocking cap until after Saturday. Was great to meet you. I think I saw you sitting near the back of the room, stage left, at Babbler's seminar in Springfield. Thanks for sharing some free info with us. Our plan might be similar to yours in area, but different presentation. Thanks for setting me straight on take off point too! I would have at at Mill Creek for hours. See you at Ahoy's! The Mrs. still wants to go. I was surprised at how excited she was to fish a tourney. She has been talking preparation since she found out I needed someone to take Adam's place. She bought a bass book and started reading about bass. If she catches a ton of fish.....we will never live to hear the end of it. I am going to tie on your recommendation for her. It was an awesome day on the water yesterday. The best of this year for so far for sure. Tim Carpenter
Flippin Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Techo, That is great that you took your neighbor out on TR. Even if it was not your best day fishing, I am sure that boy took things from that day that we overlook all the time.
Members skeeterp Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 Hey Techo, NitroNick and I were out on the Rock yesterday but we fished from Kings to Campbells Point area. We did well also in the morning with the wind. We had several keepers but nothing big. I have twin boys that are 14, so I took one of them and Nick took the other and we would go to creeks and start on opposite points and work our way to the backs. I caught several on jerkbait, Nick caught em on crankbait...samo samo. Forecast for Satruday AiA isn't looking to good but the fishing should be good. I'll see you over there. SkeeterP
