Family vacation in Perdido Key early June and I would like to try to get out and do a 4 hr trip. Anyone had any experiences with guides in this area. I did some research on line and would like to get any feed back from people here that may have used a guide in this area.

Thanks, Joe

I could put you on some fish about 60 miles east of there in Mobile Bay. Early June things are just starting, snapper you still have to out 20-40 miles. Sea trout and red drum are starting to move into the bay as the shrimp have just hatched in the estuary and everything follows them. Floating debris, foam , plywood ect are excellant haunts for dolphin (mahi, mahi). There is no structure, coral, in the gulf except man made, old tanks, concrete, gas and oil rigs. If you take your own boat still hire a guide and find places that have landmarks so you can find them again. Most guides and charters do not allow compass or GPS on board. They work hard at creating structure and are very gaurded about there locations. Cut bait for sanpper and grouper, live bait such as 6-8 inch croakers drug on bottom for red drum and yikes sharks. Smaller guide boats that only carry 2-3 people are best as you can learn more than the 70 footers that take out 25-35 at a time. Be prepared also if you get sea sick, they wont bring you back unless you are the sole charter. Have to stick it out untill they come in. I know I didnt answer your question, but thats the stuff you need to look for.

Fished with Capt. John Rivers last year during spring break. Great guide, would recommend him. Attached is his website.

I fished out of Orange Beach probably 15 times and have had mostly good trips. I have a few names that I will need to look up, but it kind of depends on your preferences. I dont know if they are still there, but The Fishin' Fool was my favorite boat. We have been with them 5 or 6 times and always caught fish and more importantly had fun.

I strongly suggest you look at an 8 to 10 hour trip instead and only try to go on a 6 man boat if possible. This is obviously more expensive....but you generally get what you pay for.

Of course, remember that it is fishing and there are better days than others.

The reason I need to know what your interests are is because I usually only took 8+ hour trips and most of the boats/captains I went with only do 8+ hour trips because the fishing is usually better/less pressured areas farther out.

Wish I was going with ya....
