Took my Brother and Dad down to fish out of the boat we just bought, Thurs afternoon caught 1 short on a spinner in Spring Branch. Friday started at Little Indian with no luck eventually moved to wind blown secondarys in Cow Creek. Threw warts caught 3 shorts. Now Here is where the story got sour, Sat morning Heading out around Point 5 engine shuts down!! :( so fire the trolling Motor up start Back around Point 5 and all hell breaks loose with the Weather. We have to get back to Rice Camp to get the trailer. So instead of calling for help we decide to do it on our own, make it two coves then dock up at a ramp, Me and the bro walk through the Woods about 2 miles and get the trailer. It was an adventure to say the least! Now we have to get the boat fixed and we have used it less then 10 hours. Oh well just gonna get back up and keep on going.

Dont feel too bad KC. It was a bad week for Cats on The Rock.

I've got an 86 Pantera, and 5 minutes after being on the water, the voltage regulator catches fire.........yes, FIRE! There we are, a drift under the 13 bridge, smoke coming out of the cowl vents, then I lift the cowl, and see flames. I disconnect the starter battery, as my splashing the fire only seems to snuff it for a few seconds, then it flares back up. Mintues later, and the drama is over. (Thankfully no need for the extinguisher)

-

Fast forward a couple hours later, after trolling back to Schooner Creek, we get it on the trailer over to Carl at Dynaprop, where he does a few quick things to keep us on the water, and a few bucks later (plus a few hours) we're back out....................to catch very FEW fish.

The boats never given me a lick of problems in the years I've owned it, so things could certainly be worse. Hope your issue isn't serious.

Found out today oil pump failed, locked up 4 cylinders of 6, needless to say I'm having a bad day.

Aww man KC! That hurts! Sorry to hear it. -_-

The previous owner of my old nag had an oil pump/system malfunction, and a similar incident on my engine. The oil pump is removed from my boat, and I've always pre-mixed. It's a bit of a pain, but it's one less thing to worry about.

Good Luck getting things back going. I'm not sure if you're on BassBoatCentral.com forums. But there's a great bunch of guys/factory certified mechanics over there who have really come through for me a few times. And saved me some real money too. (just a thought)

Wow, sorry to hear the problem's that serious.

I hope you can get it fixed quick and without too much expense - but if you decide to replace the motor instead, you sure might want to look at the new four-strokes.

I switched over to a four-stroke Suzuki two years ago, and it's just great. It has a crankcase so there's no mixing oil into the gas, it runs quiet and smooth, and gasoline use is about 1/3 what it was with a two-stroke on the same boat. I'm still getting used to, and enjoying, the way it'll run so smooth and quiet at trolling speeds that you can carry on a normal conversation - 'cause the loudest sound from the motor is the stream of cooling water hitting the lake.
