Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 2, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 2, 2006 Great crappie fishing reported. Crappie are still staging mostly but there are some on the banks. Don't have details but lots of limits caught the last couple of days and it should get better each day that goes by. I hope to get down there tomorrow or Monday for sure. Everything's poppin' all at once. Look for crappie on the bluff bank downstream of the marina from real close to the bluff/cut banks to out in the timber but shallow. Look for whites up in Blair Branch for use. Other reports?!?
denjac Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Caught mostley males yesterday in the mouth of brushy creek, 5- 8 ft of water. Also had a good bite on jerk bait for bass in very shallow flat pea gravel banks. Will see if I ge out today, supposed to blow. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Wayne SW/MO Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 We were in the area late yesterday afternoon. Fishing was slow for us, but with fishermen down to 3 years its hard to stay focused. It seems to me from our experience and talking to others that they are staging with some moving in and out. The message I got was to search hard and work areas that produced until they quit. It seemed that there were a lot of small Bass in the shallows. They're coming soon. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 2, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 2, 2006 83 today and it IS blowing!! Things are definately going to take off real quick now.
Jeremy Rasnick Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Launched at Gages marina this morning, fished some good cuts along bluffs all of the way toward Arkansas. Pack up and went to cricket/Long area. Didn't have any luck. Talk about second guessing your fishing abilities, Apil 2 water temp 63 degrees, what more could you ask for. and only 1, 5" large mouth. I would have been better off bow hunting for unicorns. Thats what I get for skipping out on church.
Members bass master Posted April 3, 2006 Members Posted April 3, 2006 my uncle was done there today and he cought 2 6 lb larhe mouth and 2 3 lb white bass on black and silver rattle shad
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 3, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 3, 2006 Sent some friends down to Gages this evening. They fished a cove up in Long not far from the ramp. Caught 3 keeper crappie. With the wind it was tough but I thought they'd do better. They were males and close to the bank- within 4 feet. It will happen real soon. I hope to fish there within the next couple of days.
denjac Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Fished Sunday in Brusht creek. 1 crappie 2 big whites. Wind was too bad and left as had to run back to Indian point. Things are going to explode soon. Son fished Grand lake this weekend. 5 nice spoonbill and a basket full of crappie off the docks. There doing it there. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo.
