denjac Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Put in at the back of north little indian this morning. By the ramp in the water and on the bank were 20-30 big slab filleted crappie. I would like to know the were and whats on them , I cant get a crappie bite. Did have a good day on bass though. Had a black over 5lbs, and one of those big headed fish that shoulda weighed 6 but only around weighed 3 1/2 - 4. He was pretty beat up and old looking. lots of 14-17 inch spots all still on the grub. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Jason Essary Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Denjac, went yesterday. saw a bunch of carcasses but all i saw were white bass. some big and some decent. maybe thats what u saw. I would say that they were caught right there because a couple years ago when the water was way down at this time, me and my boy just killed the whites in the west pocket from the ramp just a couple days before easter. whites always have a run back into little indian and big indian at this time, but they are hard to predict. I tried to catch some yesterday, but didnt get hit by any. I think i did run into some on a pea gravel bank just out a little, had some hard hits but everytime i set the hook, all i got was a tail less grub. I didnt but two and two together till later, and tried on my way back in and whatever was hitting was gone. u been going in little indian lately and doing any good. Ive been catching a lot of shorts but not to many keepers. Bill Babler Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Sounds great. Lets try and get out next week for a little Swarray. Would look forward to it. I believe I am booked everyday, but I'm sure some are half day morning trips, and we can sneak out afterwards for my school time. It will be like a work-school program. I'll get you your item then. Crappie5 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 denjac, it is getting real close on the crappie, if the darn weather would just steady up. I had had a nice limit crappie up in the Kings river yesterday. It started out real good with 9 keepers until about 9:30 am and then just went dead until about 2:30 I finished out a limit. Most of the fish came out of trees in about 23'-26' of water about 10'-12' down. however I did hit a couple of my better banks and the first throw in about 3' of water was a 16" crappie. a little ways down i managed two that were 15-1/2". That was it i never caught another one off the banks. All three of these big ones were MALES, yes they sure in fact were males! I caught about 25 total and most were caught on red/white tube jigs and two of the three big ones were on a pearl swimming minnow on 1/8 oz jig head. Water temps averaged 55.
