Floating Worms

I have tried to fish a floating worm in the past with no luck. Does anybody know when this bite starts, or for that matter how to actually fish the thing?

I think I've always heard that it was a good post spawn technique. I dunno if you count a Senko as a floating worm, but you can fish those from Spring on til the end of the season. I personally like to fish floating Zoom trickworms in weed beds in the summer. The way I fish mine is I cast it out and give it a couple of twitches and let it fall about 1 to 2 feet down then twitch it back to the top. I've also had some good success with fishing it on a spinning reel with a swivel and fishing it with an erratic jerking retrieve.

The traditional floating worm deal is a post spawn bait. You can certainly tweak things and fish it earlier than that.

Floating worms are also thrown on Shakey Heads a lot.
