Larry Richards Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Went out with my friend Mark Goines yesterday.Mark had planed to do some filming on sight fishing on Norfork for his TV show Hooked on Fishing but Ranger didn't have his new boat ready yet.So we took my boat out. Class is in session..... Mark showed me how to determan if a fish on the bed is catchable by the fishes actions how to present the bait to get him to bite. Here are a few pictures of the fish that he caught. All fish were caught in less than 15 mins and all were returned to the bed.

Ham Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I've been thinking about you guys getting together and wondering how that all went. Looks like you guys had a good trip. Truth be told many of the folks that are very passionate in their arguements against bed fishing are catching fish off of unseen beds. To avoid catching spawning bass, quit fishing on March first and resume fishing on July first or only fish in 20 plus foot of water during those dates. All the fish we caught were returned to the beds and with the Bass Cat tournament the next 2 days (547 boats) we probably saved them from being hauled to the scales (I dont think they will bite for a few days). Most all the fish that we seen on the beds were not on eggs yet. However there are many empty nest already today in the cove where I live that will make it to the Bass Cat weigh-in unfortunately.I wish that Bass Cat would pick a non spawning time of the year to have there invitational.547 boats is a huge inpact on the fishery durning the spawn......
Ham Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I love BassCats, but I hate seeing that many on one lake at one time. I know that Mountain Home benefits from having the tourney, but I think Bull Shoals would let the boats spread out a bit. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
