jjtroutbum Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 I have seen guides at Bennett Spring. Guess they are different then? bikehikefish Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I was told that guiding for pay in the trout parks is illegal. Anyone know for sure?
jjtroutbum Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 http://www.bennettspringstatepark.com/ The pristine beauty of Bennett Spring State Park makes it a haven for nature lovers. The spring, which is the source of 100,000,000 gallons of fresh water per day, is stocked daily with rainbow trout. Canoe and fishing tackle rental, angling lessons and guide services are all available. And there is a very large variety of lodging accommodations, from modern cabins with fireplaces to motels or duplexes. Comfortable condos offer the conveniences of home. All have fully equipped kitchens, heating, AC and Cable TV. Campsites ranging from primitive to those with full electric, water and sewer hook-ups, are also popular choices. Meeting rooms, and home cooked meals and buffets at the dinning lodge make it a perfect place for family reunions, business meetings or just a quiet meal. Weather permitting, a visit to the trout hatchery is a must. There is a 18 hole public golf course 8 miles up the road, Call (417)532-2901 for golfing info. Apparently it's not a problem If you use Mr. Rodgers services. I personally think that limiting ones ability to use there talents to help others be successful fishing or hunting. And earn money doing it to help support their family is wrong. Brian Sloss Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 As I understand it, you can guide at all the trout parks except Maremec as it is owned by the James foundation. You may have to get a special license though, I don't know. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Gavin Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Bennett, Roaring River, and Montauk are owned by Missouri DNR....not MDC...DNR's rules would apply but I'm not sure what those are. Cheers.
Members tallboys33 Posted June 10, 2009 Members Posted June 10, 2009 What if the man was charging for the use of his dogs or guns and not his guide service? The MDC does not have a problem with him killing the hogs, they have a problem because their pockets are not being filled.
Members bigdub Posted June 10, 2009 Members Posted June 10, 2009 I was not aware of this issue on these lands, I thought the whole point of the pretty much open season and no bag limit was to thin the population, what difference does the money make? A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!
