Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 The home opener against Milwaukee aint gonna be easy.. they are on fire! I believe they are undefeated as of Saturday.. I know thats not saying much right now, but still - our first 3 with Milwaukee is gonna be tough! Let's hope the Cards can at least win won against the Cubs Sunday! I predict another 100 win season for us - winning the Central again. I'll even go out on a limb and say its going to be us and the Yankees battling it out for rings at the end. Kicknbass Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Anyone else going? I'll be there. I've been to the last five openers. This one in the new stadium should be awsome. All though, I have a buddy that manages for food service and he says they had trouble w/ the exhibition game between memphis and springfield w/ coordination w/ the new facility. They don't have all the "bugs" worked out yet. There might be some confussion until the staff and service vendors get comfortable w/ there new home. Looking forward to a great season. Go Cards. mcp633 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'm sure the vendors will have no problem finding my hand and inserting a $9.00 semi-cold Budweiser in it . I believe it will be a tuff series with the Brew Crew. And I agree we need to escape Chitown with a big W tonite. We'll see what Ponson is made of. Kyle. If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
Danoinark Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Brian Just had a chance to post..I am sure you heard by now...but the Travs beat the Cards at their home opener during the storms Thursday night. I didn't hear Saturdays score...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
jOrOb Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 How about those Cubbies taking two straight and heading for a season opener sweep? St Louis looks pretty good this year, but the cream always rises to the top. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
Brian Sloss Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Tough to see the Cards waste a very good start for Carpenter. Worst yet was the humble pie I have to eat around the shop (my business partner is Cubs fan) because we have lost the first series of the year. I'm sure I'll have the last laugh as usual though. I'm still nervous about our outfield. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Seth Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Well whoever says that Izzy scares them, I totally agree. He always walks the bases loaded. I think he is the most overrated closer . Just look at him the other night, juicing the bases with walks then has the ball smacked out of the park. They should let the other guy (can't think of his name right now) be the closer for a while, he looks pretty good. Oh btw, did anybody manage to get tickets to a game this year? Me and my buddy tried and tried to get tickets but never could. I guess we will have to try and buy some off ebay from some scalpers if we plan to go see a game this year. GO CARDS!!!
Snow Fly Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Seth: Try the following web "stlcardinals.com" then look to the left of the page and it shows "tickets". You can buy on web and I think they said you can print the ticket at home, like they now use on a lot of airline tickets. The prices on the web are higher. Also on the same web they have "Prime Seats" this site you purchase the tickets from season ticket holders, I'm sure the prices are straight up since I doubt the Cards would get involved in selling inflated tickets! Come to think of it THEIR tickets are inflated. Good Luck!!! "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 The Prime Seats Club option from stlcardinals.com looks to be the best bet for getting seats this year.. without paying too much (or too little) off eBay. I was shocked when Izzy got rocked for the granny Sunday, lets just say I also want to bring in whats his name instead of relying on a guy with honest talent but a lack of ball control. So we win the home opener.. great! The park is the question. Is it a hitters park or a pitchers park ? ( I lean towards pitchers ) We'll see how tomorrow with Marquis goes. holy cow - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Brian Sloss Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 It looks like there will be a Wrigley comparison to be made. With the low outfield wall to give the view of the Arch, if the wind is blowing in it will be a pitchers park. If it is blowing out, then it is a hitters park. The outfielders are having sun fighting issues during day games, which favors hitters. The dementions seem very fair for todays standards. All in all looks like a good stadium in my book, but I won't be able to say for sure without a trip to the park myself. Brain www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
