Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 18, 2009 Root Admin Posted May 18, 2009 That's the plan. All the kids are here so we're hitting the water before Sara and Josh head to Port Aurthur, TX Wednesday. Water is perfect. Taking the fishing rod just in case. Will report back.
Members mark hedger Posted May 18, 2009 Members Posted May 18, 2009 Sounds like a perfect way to spend great day. Have fun and good luck!!
Zack Hoyt Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Enjoy Phil. I grew up in the Boxley Valley, and love the area. Definately dont get down there often enough. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 19, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted May 19, 2009 Was a perfect day on the river- temp, sun and flow all were good. Water had alittle color to it. Not crowded. We put in at Ponca about 1:30 pm. The current was good and we hardly drug at all. Five canoes and one kayak. Throwing brown or sculpin 1/8th oz jigs, we caught red ears, small mouth and gogs- nothing big and didn't catch that many but it was fun. It's been a few years since we've been on that part of the Buffalo. Last time it was low and we drug a lot. Pics soon.
ozark trout fisher Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 The Buffalo River is beautiful. I bet its about what the White River was before the dams. I know the trout fishing is great, and I obviously enjoy it, based on my username. But I sure wish those dams had never been built. No going back on it now.............. Thanks for the interesting report, awesome pictures, and sorry if I just hijacked your thread.
Buzz Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Great pics Phil. Looks like a fun family outing. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 20, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted May 20, 2009 Another pic I missed... actually just testing the attachment feature on the forum.
Flysmallie Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Great pics Phil. Looks like everyone had a great time.
