Paola Cat Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Well, after 29 years with the same company, I got my pink slip yesterday . The 24/7 work week is over. I guess that's how corporate America works. Anyway, thinking about taking a couple of weeks off. Was wondering what's been going on at the park ....seems like it's been kind of tough. PC Cheers. PC

FishinCricket Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Sorry to hear about your job.. The water at the park has been a little high, and it's really flowing good.. Been having to use a lot of weight to keep the lure down.. I watched a guy with a braided sinking line doing a real interesting stripping along the bottom technique, he actually had his rod tip down in the gravel in an effort to keep the lure low.. He was busting one every other cast when no one else was catching anything.. Reminded me of the "snipping" technique someone mentioned on one of these threads around here... Best of luck, keep us informed? cricket.c21.com
fishinwrench Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 29 years....Wow, sorry dude. Things like this happen for a reason though, and I have faith that it will play out in your favor. Enjoy the vacation and hopefully we'll bump into one another on the river.

My place of work for the past 35 yrs has cut us back to 32 hr work weeks, with a week off with no pay in Aug. Wishing you good luck in all things. The only good line is a tight line
Greg Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I haven't been to Bennett in a few weeks. Last time I was there the water was up quite a bit but the fishing was very good. i think that was about a month ago. I'm sorry about your job too. I hope you find something soon but that you get some quality fishing in the meantime. Paola Cat Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks guys .... it's been a tough 24 hours. I'm kind of coming out the shock right now. I was totally blindsided by this. Looking forward to getting down to the park and the Niangua and taking my mind off of the situation. Checked with the real boss and it looks like I'll be fishing Sunday and Monday. PC Cheers. PC
TroutBum4wt Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hang in there. I've been there, too. Good things are coming your way! "Where There Are Trout, There's Hope" - John Gierach
flyfishmaster Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 PC, Sorry to hear about the job, like the above posts, I too have been your boots twice in the last 6 months. I was just lucky enough to start a new job on Tuesday. And like you, in between my jobs I made a trip to BSSP and meet up with Cricket. I know you don't like being out of work in such a bad economy, but during this "short" break do things you enjoy doing, it will take the tension off reality. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
