EN, You still catching the whites? yeah Im still catching the whites in both the meramec and my secret connected creek. its hit and miss though, this rain has seemed to change things... a bit. last saturday night was epic night fishing... water was getting way down...between the rain and the missouri river fluctuations things never seem to be the same from day to day, very hard to figure it out. was out last night hooked one good white bass that got off and got a 22 inch cat...better than nothing, but not great. ekl-stl Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Good to be out though.. This Spring was good on some small creeks that dump into the Mississippi.. lots of 8-14" whites.. some times upwards of 100 in an outing.. It would be nice to find some bigger ones now.. Navigated the middle section of Creve Ceour last night.. found some good shallow water with some carp working in it.. didn't bring a rod as I was testing some things out with the new kayak.. I would imagine some of those shallow flats could lead to good fishing..
esox niger Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 headed out to check the shallow uper reaches of this creek...no cats or whitebass but carp! and to my surprise they didnt spook too easily casting a biger fly, specificly a weedless "ddh" sculpin that ive been getting white bass and cats on. ive spent so much fishless time hunting carp that today was great. got a fish on the first cast and finished this outing with a nice catfish. Nice!! The first one to hand is so rewarding! I wish I would have kept track of how many fruitless hours it took before I finally brought one to hand. I'd probably be embarrassed by the # if I actually knew it. 3 fish to hand... that's well on your way to a carp addiction! Nice work! Caught a small carp today.... but the catch of the day was definitely this ugly beast... TheOkieAngler.com

drew03cmc Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Guys, I am envious. The fishing here locally has slowed, but I am anxious to get out to fish more and more often. Andy
