Members mbass81
I have not seen much activity on here about the fishing this year. Is it so good people do not have time to post, or is it too bad to say? Well we are floating next week for our 4th annual family float and just wondering what was going on. We always seem to catch several good fish but can not seem to catch the big one. If anyone has any info on the fishing it would be greatly appreciated. Guest
I floated from Kyles to Ozark (11miles) weekend after Memorial Day. Caught nearly 30 bass, all smallmouths, using a shakey head worm and gitzit. My wife and I both, broke off a donkey smallmouth. I'm talking ripped the drag and "pow" snapped the line (sufix 8lb) There were lots of people floating and fishing but they weren't dragging a worm. Too bad, the fishing was awesome for us.

Went week of June 1st till day before chopper down. Maumee to Dillards fishing slow. Dillard to Rush fishing fantastic. Our group was on our 28th annual float on Ozark rivers. This year we caught more and bigger smallmouth than ever before. Wacky rigged 3" to 4" Senkos. No weight. Till we started getting low on circle hooks. Used jigheads with wacky worm. Shaved lead off jigheads. Still caught boatloads. We are catch and release. The blue ribbon section allows only 1 fish and must be over 17". We had one 19, four 18, and about a dozen 17. We ended up floating Dillard to Rush 3 times. Catch & release works ! 'nuff said.

We floated Thur. June 18th from N. maumee to buffalo pt. . The river was in great shape I am guessing around 5ft at dillard. We were on our 3rd annual float and this year we took our little kids so did not fish as much. We managed to catch a couple brownies but nothing to brag about. The river was crowded and alot of the people were goofballs, banging on the canoes and slapping the water over and over. One of the boats in our group had a little run in with a tree up from spring creek. We had to swim out and climb on the tree to knock the canoe loose. In the process I spotted two more canoes stuck under the tree down about 3ft from suface. I guess they will get them when water goes down. Well can't wait till next year, I think we are going to float from buffalo pt. to the white. Never done the float before but have always wanted to. I hear it takes about 3 days to do. grizwilson
Had problem with previous post so will try again. Just came off 3 days on Pruitt to Woolum. You should be fine on lower river, would suggest mid week rather than weekend. Check http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/...mmary/state/AR/ for water levels they seem to be accurate honest information. Fishing was good. Could not get bit on my Daves Hopper and fly rod, so went with chug bug, pop r and texas rig green pumpkin lizard. had 2 SM over 18" lots of smaller, near the bank in the shade they are all still swiming. g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
