Ämp Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I own a nice boat but sometimes I just don't have the energy to get everything around to go on a short fishing trip ...here are some ideas for those of you that just like to get out of the house and fish a lil with out the check list that it takes for boating. River cut golf facility and subdivision ..this place has some of the best fishing on the james ,weeds beds every turn, good currents with cut-outs on either side and alot of shelf rock . I have fished there for years and never gotten kicked out ...now im not saying go cutting across the greens looking for a spot to fish but I am saying that you can discretely fish the river on the bend from the pro shop all the way around and out of the parking area with out the wrath of golf balls hailing down upon you , the grounds keepers will on occasion stop by to ask what you have caught em on but otherwise have nothing to say . here is one right on that big bend coming in the gates .. another good place is ozark's park and booster club arena..with handicap access and a nice view of the old mill you can take your time catching monster Sm .. if you step to the other side of the mill you will find fast moving water with lots of structure to fish .. Linden lure one your way to rogersville past hilandsprings is also a great place. good fish can be taken anywhere that there isnt a huge crowd .. this place packs it in on the weekends but is virtually abandoned otherwise... try the mill and everything below for more huge Sm.. take james river expwy. to 125 south til you see the bridge.. you want to take the ugly lil road on your right hand side before the bridge but if its your first time there just turn around after you see the river and look for it on your way back .
OzarkFishman Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 All I can say is thanks. That is a lot of info for a bank fisher like me. I am looking for a boat, but like you said, bank/wade fishing is so much easier (to plan at least). OzarkFishman
TroutRinger Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Thanks as well...I go to Missouri State and I am fortunate enough to have no class on Friday's. I was looking for some spots to catch smallies down there. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." Flysmallie Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Amp's been doing his homework. I haven't fished the James by Rivercut but I've always wanted to. I love linden when you can get away from the crowd and there are some nice fish in there. A couple of years ago I chased a huge smallmouth for a couple of months. I would say a 3-4 lb fish. One day every weekend I would get up early and he was always right next to this lay down. He would follow a fly but never found anything that he would take but I had a lot of great mornings out there just hanging out with that one fish. Key to Linden is get there early, real early. Hit the water as soon as you can see to fish and head to the house when the retards start showing up. I might just have to do that again soon. You have found some good spots. However, there are a lot more within the same distance of Springfield. Keep searching, that's half the fun.
Ämp Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 well there is always . the jeep dealership,160 bridge spots 1 and 2, shelvin rock, delaware town , terrel creek out of republic on zz, wilsons off FF, south creek on west bypass, all of springfield lake ,fellows ,mcdaniel, another bridge north of mcdaniel .. yea there are a few spots unnamed .. .
et84 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks as well...I go to Missouri State and I am fortunate enough to have no class on Friday's. I was looking for some spots to catch smallies down there. I'm an MSU student as well, with very little time between work and school. I have a jon boat, but nothin beats some quick bank fishin', and even though I was born and raised here I'm always interested in new spots. Thanks Amp!!! smallmouthjoe Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I'll join the ranks of Missouri State students who thank you for your information. Amp, where do you usually fish at Linden?
Ämp Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 If the water is high enough right below the mill .
smallmouthjoe Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I guess I never hit it at the right time. The water there is always shallow. Next time we get some rain I'll check it out.

I have had to give up golf due to some back problems, but have always thought about what fishing was like in Rivercut the many times I played golf out there. I have picked up fishing again to enjoy in my spare time. May I ask what you were fishing with? Were you fly fishing? Did you stick to the shoreline or do any wading? Thanks in advance
