Looks like the bass fishing is pretty good on the Osage. I've never tried it but did go and look at the ramp outside of St. Elizabeth yesterday. I would like to try it. Would this be a good ramp to start at?? Do you guys ever catch any smallmouth in the Osage?

Also, I have a Seaark Rivercat 2072 with a 115 Yamaha prop, will this boat be OK on the Osage??

Thanks

There are some smallmouth, but mostly you catch Kentuckies or Largemouth. I did however get my largest smallmouth ever from the Osage. I would put in up by Bagnell and work your way down below the bridge. You can go a mile or two below the bridge, but the water gets shallow beyond that if they aren't running any water.

I fished St. Elizabeth with a buddy this past winter and caught several nice kentuckies there. We fished Tuscumbia a day this winter and my buddy caught a 4 pound smally there. He's said that's one of the biggest smallies he's seen come from the Osage. Also got a nice 18" largemouth that same day.

If there's running water, you can take your SeaArk anywhere on the Osage. If the water is off, then you might be a bit more careful. I'm not real familiar with the waters 5 miles below Bagnell on down to the MariOsa. Wardsville has a really deep hole by the sand plant and has plenty of water for you to run also.

Thanks for the info guys...... Can any of you guys tell me how many river miles there are from Bagnell down to the Missouri River??

Sounds like I can run anywhere if they are running water. If they are not, will I be able to go upstream say 10 miles and float back down to the Bagnell ramp?

How about upstream from the Osage-Tavern ramp?

I can't seem to find much info on this river so any help from any of you guys would be huge.

Thanks

Bagnell to Missouri River: 82 miles, according to the MDC.

The Bagnell ramp is right below the dam. I don't know how you'd run 10 miles upstream from there--a big slab of concrete will stop you before you hardly get started.

There is a lock and dam down stream you CAN'T get through.

Well you can't get through it if you have a prop. I've seen guys with big inboards fly over it when the water was up. Crazy I tell ya!
