Wayne SW/MO Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 You can't stop stupid, only the state can do that. The natural resources agency is making too much money to care in my opinion. I believe legally the canoes have the right of way because they lack the maneuverability to avoid trouble. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
oneshot Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 This is where the bulk of the Canoes where. If you don't know this section there is a Big Root Wad and couple downed trees on the Left,so it makes it very narrow in this section.Plus its close to take out point for most of them so they are tierd and probably have had a few too many,at least for some. oneshot

I got into it on the Table Rock board for telling people they should follow the speed limit and light laws. So, I will just say that a little bit of common courtesy goes a long way. gunner. catman70 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 BMAN: You may be correct on the vessel having the right-of-way over a wader, but I think a non-motorized vessel has the right-of-way versus one that is motorized. My reasoning for this stems from knowing that sailboats are always assumed to have the right-of-way because lack of a motor renders them less controllable. I don't see why the same logic wouldn't apply to a canoe or drift boat.
Flysmallie Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 BMAN: You may be correct on the vessel having the right-of-way over a wader It really doesn't matter who has the right of way. If you hit a wader in a boat then you are probably in trouble. The main point is if these people would just be curtious on the river then there would be no problem. As many problems as I have had with boats on the river, I can't think of a single time it was due to a boater that was out fishing. The people that cause the problems are the ones that just like to cruise up and down the river.
