Hi. I have been in love with the Jacks Fork River for more than a decade. A lot of you have for longer than that. The fishing, canoeing, hiking...I love it all. I found this video I think all who come to this forum should take the time to watch.

This river is worth your time please give it a look.

Why we must save the Current River(and Jacks Fork), again. <---clicky clicky

The video didn't work on my computer.... Basically, what was it about? Just curious.

First try copy paste: http://vimeo.com/4860397

Basically it is a presentation on the start and history of the Current and Jacks Fork. It points some blame to the National Park Service for not protecting the resourse better, pointing out how they do a better job on the Buffalo and the Forest Service does a better job on the 11point. But we have to remember that the Current and Jack's Fork were the FIRST National Senic Rivers, by the time the Buffalo came in 8 years later in 1972 the NPS had learned some of their mistakes on the Current so it was a better bill through congress. The 11pt. also benefited by looking at the original model. That said it would take an act of Congress to correct many of the problems, which will not happen as some of the problems are money making ventures who give strong support to Congresswoman Emerson, and in her defense many of the locals are against any regs.

They are currently looking for input for the next 15-20 years. Go to: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/document.cfm?p...ocumentID=27597 read the 3 proposals, select the one you like best, then comment on what you would like different about it. Click on the open for comment tab. The NPS is reading EVERY comment. Take the time to protect the resourse.
