Flysmallie Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Has anyone worked with material like this www.camo4u.com ? It's just a big vinyl decal. You have to apply it correctly or you will trap a lot of air bubbles or make wrinkles in it. It's not hard though.
Zack Hoyt Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 What type of surface? I did tint for a while in college and can not imagine doing it on boats and vehicles. TOO MANY CURVES. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Buzz Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 A guy I work with has a Jeep that he covered with that stuff. It looks pretty good. Up close you can see the imperfections, but it looks better than it did before. The jeep was caught in a bad hail storm, bad enough that the Insurance co. totaled it. He bought it back and gave it to his son to drive. It did a good job hiding the hail dents too. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Ämp Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 The trick to this stuff is a big bottle of soapy water..one or 2 drops is all you need .. and a good plastic flat edge that can push the bubbles down.. Clean the area off , spritz it with soap/water , tack the pc down with masking tape and slowly peel the transfer tape off as you sqeedge the air bubbles out .. any left over bubbles use a exacto-knife or needle to pop and then press them down .. once the soap/water has dried your set. .

Geoff Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 baby shampoo works even better then soap. plus since its for babies it wont mess with the adhesive and make the vinyl turn colors, like how some peoples window tints turn purple, its the soap doing it. id10t Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 helpful - thanks. A cap full of Dawn Dish washing liquid in a pump spray bottle with water. It serves two puposes. It can be used to clean the surface you are applying the vinyl to as well as breaking the surface tension of the vinyl when you apply it. Don't be afraid to use it liberally on large pieces of vinyl. Use a flexible bondo squeegee to take the bubbles/air out. If it is a long piece do a quarter or half at a time. Use painters tape to hold the other half in place .
jdmidwest Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 We have a local dealer that sells CAMOCLAD, puts it on boats, atv's, trucks, guns, bows, etc. Its expensive and I feel a little too shiny to be of any real use other than decoration. Nothing beats flat paint. CAMOCLAD "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
