Hey just finished my first rod build, built a 7' G. Loomis Ultralight and it turned out pretty awesome (didn't break when i hooked a fish LOL)!!! I was wondering, I have been looking at Rainshadow blanks for spinning rods due to the fact that I am looking for a cheaper blank, has anyone had any experience with these or have any suggestions for a cheaper, good quality spinning blank. I think I am now addicted, but don't want to necessarily break the bank!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your time guys, I think you have a new convert to this awesome craft!!

I don't know about their spinning blanks but I have used Batson rainshawdow fly rod blanks and have found them to be excellent. My favorite 4wt is on a rainshawdown blank. I don't think you could go wrong. Another one you might look at is Tiger Eye blanks.

Do not know what price you are looking at but these are some of the last American made blanks from Flippin, AR. Larry Wegmann President of the MTFA in Springfield built a rod with these, and it was none less than awsome, I plan on building another this winter.

I can't believe I failed to mention Dorber.

I have a couple of rods made from their blanks. The best customer service ever. The first rod I ever built was a dorber blank. That is going to be your best bet. They are excellent about offering all kind of tips and also have hardware for them too. I would go with Dorber. Thanks Griz for mentioning them and kick starting my memory.
