I can't seem to find a waist pack that I like for spin fishing Smallies, and I've just about worn out the one I've been "making due" with. The one I use for warmwater flyfishing is a BPS White river model that I really like, but it doesn't have the capacity needed for my spin fishing escapades.

I normally carry one 9'x 4.5" box with hardbaits, 7 bags of plastics, and several assorted hooks, jigheads ect. I don't like the padded belt designs because I like to hang occasional other items like a water bottle, pliers ect. on the belt.

I can't stand the Fishpond stuff cause they remind me of the gay-guy purses I've seen worn in the city, besides they are designed more for flyfishing. I just need a rugged 2 or 3 compartment waist pack with a sturdy belt/buckle system....but everything I've found so far is either too small, designed more for flyfishing (small compartments), or cheaply made with huge padded belts.

Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome. Thanks, Wrench

I have two identical mesh vests meant for flyfishing, but they are so handy I use them for everything, and the large pockets hold even big plastic boxes well.

Columbia is the brand, but they quit making this model, of course.

Waist packs don't have enough room for me. (I carry to much s...uh, stuff.)

I don't know, you'll have to do a lot of looking around. Sometimes I think about designing my own stuff because I can't find something perfect, you know?

I use a small tackle bag with a shoulder strap. You can shorten up the strap on it so it rides higher allowing you to wade deeper without getting your tackle in the water. It also holds alot more stuff than any waist setup I've ever seen. You have to be careful though not too load it too heavy. Plano has put out some nice bags like this recently. I bought mine at a local tackle store, I've also seen the same one at Bass Pro, and a similar one just the other day at Wally World. The one I have also has a pocket on each end that is just the right size to hold your favorite beverage. Works for me anyway! -SS

Wrench .... I use a Plano waist pack/belt for my spin fishin' creek/river SMBs. I've had it for several years .... seems to be holding up well. Has plenty of room for all of my SMB spin fishin' stuff. It's comfortable to wear also. PC

I hear that ! My G/F is a sewing fool....but she says her machine won't handle canvas or heavy material <_<

Are those the blue and yellow ones that Wal-mart has ? I looked at one of those but it didn't seem big enough. I have this thing where I have to carry spares of all my hardbaits, plenty of hooks, jigheads, and 3 times more plastic than I'm likely to use in a day...if not for that I could get by with it I think. Minimizing is a tough one for me.

Have you looked into chest packs? There's some out on the market that have a lot of room and are relativity inexpensive.

Hu uh, Chest packs are out, I'm fat enough as it is :P Although some look like they can convert to a waist pack.

Wrench .... Yep .... it's one of those blue and yellow Planos .... I didn't have to minimize on the gear at all. Holds plenty of gear for me. I carry everything from cranks and topwaters to a bunch of plastics. Works great. Perfect for river/creek SMB pursuits. I also have a Wright & McGill fly fishing waist pack that just didn't cut it for the spin fishing pursuits .... but is great for carrying the fly gear. PC
