Danoinark
Gentleman and Gentle ladies I have been asked to help with this event this year. If you will read over the material and if you can help with this please contact Rick Trowbridge at the email addresses below. Rick is the Southern Region Coordinator Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. The program is a non profit charity that takes wounded vets and soldiers on these trips to help with their rehab and healing process, both mental and physical. If you can find the time and want I think it would do the heart good. This thread will also be pinned to the top for easy access and where updates will be posted.....Dano I also have Rick's cell phone number if you want to talk to him personally about this. Event: 2nd Annual Trip to Lilley's Landing & Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. Date: 18-21 September 2009 Who: 10 Disabled or Wounded Veterans/Soldiers What: 2 days of fishing on Lake Taneycomo Needed: I'm looking for Volunteers that can help with breakfast (potluck) on Saturday and Sunday mornings; should be served around 6:30-7:30 a.m. We'll have catering done for lunch and dinner on both of those days. I've considered Shorty Smalls for Saturday and Golden Corral on Sunday. If there are better suggestions as to a great & inexpensive caterer, please let me know. Volunteers: We are also going to need 8 individuals that will take the participants fishing on Taneycomo. I have two already set-up. The "guides" don't have to be a professional, just someone that loves to fish and wants to share their knowledge of the lake. We ask that the volunteers help the participants with tying on ALL flies, tippets, leaders, etc... The goal is to keep the paticipants from getting too frustrated with the knots, etc...to have a good time. We also observe catch & release only, so I hope that's not an issue. Lodging: I have lodging secured for the participants at the American Inn and Lilley's Landing was very generous with the donation two rooms. I have Sam Tate, a country music writer from Nashville, TN planning on coming in to sing for us and fish with one of the participants. If you or anyone knows of some local music talent that would like to come play for us, that would be wonderful. The Branson Veteran's Task Force said they are trying to get us some show tickets for Saturday night. I'll keep you posted on that. Also needed: Prizes, raffle items, monetary and non-monetary donations, gift bags for each participant (doesn't have to be fishing related), and possibly hats with the Branson logo or something like it. It would be nice to have some "fishing or boonie style hats" donated. What PHWFF will provide: Hats for the Volunteers, lunch & dinner for Saturday and Sunday, fly boxes and possibly fly rods for each participant (if they haven't already received one), and guide fees as applicable. Thank you very much for your help and I'm looking forward to meeting you and all the guys there in September. Very Respectfully, Rick E-mail: phwff.rick@gmail.com or rick.trowbridge@yahoo.com Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 27, 2009 Root Admin Share Posted July 27, 2009 This is similar to the event we did a couple of years ago but extended to a weekend, not just a day.
