I thought the day was going to start out with hot action. First cast and fish on! It was big - or I thought. A fin hooked 12" brown. Now wonder it fought so much.

All down hill in action from there. Brought very few to the net if they even made it to the net. Light bites and very little action. Some were doing okay with a stringer, most looked little action. The entire range of flies were thrown in all sizes and colors.

The big dries were taking some hits, but no hook ups. I changed colors, sizes and styles with no luck.

The water is low and clear. The human hatch wasn't too bad, at least some room to cast. But it was Friday so the weekend may be more packed. The total fish count did look down from previous. Still fish in the water, but lower numbers.

Two guys did really good in Zone 2 using a red SOFT PLASTIC bait. They both had a stringer of 4. :o

Dove ....I hear ya. "Two guys did really good in Zone 2 using a red SOFT PLASTIC bait. They both had a stringer of 4." I see it every time I go to any of the trout parks this time of year. Lots of illegal baits .... fishing after stringing up a limit .... culling fish off of stringers. I'm surprised they stopped stringing them up at 4 each. I saw a guy at RRSP (2 weeks ago) with 7 fish on a stringer. PC

Cheers. PC

Week before last there was a guy with two kids fishing balls of nightcrawlers under bobbers at the spring hole (container of crawlers setting right in plain view), a park ranger got out of his "cruiser" and I thought "ah-ha he's gonna get it". But no, he walked right past them and started giving another guy a bunch of crap for having a dog unleashed. A very well behaved dog I might add, that hadn't left the guys side the whole time.

Rules are Rules I guess....Well, some of them. hu?

Last Sunday I was fishing the hole between the dam and the bridge while two older fellas were digging into their vest pockets getting out some type of soft bait that was covered in a heavy garlic smell. I was downwind of them and it was super strong smelling. This was going on right in front of the hatchery office no less. The guys even took out the jar and unscrewed the lid and was putting it on while holding it close to them so no one could see what they were doing. Then when they caught a fish they would sit and look back at the hatchery office and laugh with each other as like they were laughing in the face of authority. Normally I would have turned them in but, I'm tired of doing the police work for the MDC cops. If I would report all the wrong doing I see going on, I would spend more time at the office than on the stream.

The MDC needs more plain clothes CO's on the water to see all this stuff going on.
