TroutRinger
I just bought a screw-in paddle holder for my sit-in kayak. I just need something to keep my paddle from sliding off the rim of the cockpit when I'm fishing. Anyway, the instructions say to mount them on the side of the kayak running parallel to the hull. However, I think it would be much better to mount them on the edge of the cockpit perpendicular to the hull. That way when I set my rod down the paddle is right there already in position to begin paddling (and I don't have to worry about accidently dropping the paddle in the water). I am also thinking about just mounting one so it would be easier to remove the paddle, but I am afraid that might put too much stress on the holder and mount. Just looking for some thoughts or suggestions before I start putting holes in the kayak. Thanks "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." Members Bwinkert
I would probally mount it where the instructions say to..I have an Ocean Kayak SOT...I just slide my paddle blade under the bungee's on the deck. I would def get a paddle leash. You will be amazed at how fast you can drift away from a paddle if you get busy fighting a fish...not that I've ever had to paddle with a flip flop Brad

Members Bwinkert
you could make one out of rope and a strap just fine. I have the coiled type only gave about $12 or so for it. I like it because when I have a fish on I can just put the paddle over the side and work the fish. Brad
