smallmouthjoe Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Me and my girl went to The Current and Jack's Fork for my annual end of summer camping trip. We spent most of our time on Jack's Fork because it seemed less crowded and the water was a bit slower which allowed us to work our way up river. We would fish on the way up and hit the hot spots we found on the way back down. Great trip and by far the best camping/fishing trip I've had in a long while. We camped at Two Rivers and it wasn't crowded at all, we only saw one other group that was camping. I'm sure if we went back during the weekend it would be a different story. Each day we picked a different access and fished our way up. The first day we fished up from where the two rivers meet and that section was the best fishing section we found. The second day we went to Shawnee Creek and the third we went to Rymer. On our way back home we stopped at Alley Spring and checked out the Mill and it was beautiful and I really enjoyed learning a little about the areas history. On the second night there some raccoons broke in to our cooler and stole all of our food so for the rest of the trip we had to eat nothing but pringles and granola bars. But that was the only bad luck that fell our way. Most of the fish that were caught came on either a green pumpkin or pumpkin with green flake tube, spring craw bitsy bug or a grub in green pumpkin or watermelon red. Caught both good numbers and some good fish and all the fish were where you would expect to find them this time of year. Here's some pictures of the trip. Thanks to everyone here, going back and reading all the old posts really helped me decide where to go. And thanks to Al for his suggestion on where we should camp.
KCRIVERRAT Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Great pics Joe and nice fish! I've always done my best from Shawnee down to Two Rivers. I'm sure Anita at Two Rivers took good care of you two. Did you catch any in that stretch just below that old cabin? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Flysmallie Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Looks like you had a great time. Good looking fish. Thanks for sharing. Â Â

I'm sure Anita at Two Rivers took good care of you two. Did you catch any in that stretch just below that old cabin? I did really well in that pool that was just up from the cabin. That cabin is my dream house. Small and close, maybe too close, to a great stream. All the people at Two Rivers Outfitters where really nice and helpful. I feel kind of bad for not scheduling a shuttle with them but I didn't have the money.
TroutRinger Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Are you guys talking about that cabin on the left side when floating downstream up on the hill/bluff? "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
KCRIVERRAT Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Are you guys talking about that cabin on the left side when floating downstream up on the hill/bluff? Yep... probably the same one ringer. I've through the years have seen people sitting in the screened-in porch. An old lady once with what might have been her son or daughter and their husband or wife. Wished that place was mine. And yes... there's a big bluff on the left with a deep hole before you hit the fast water that drops you into the cabin spot. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
TroutRinger Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 That is one secluded place. Is there a road that leads there? I don't remember seeing one. hank franklin Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Great report, love the pics. Was just on the JF between Alley and Two Rivers. Special place.

Lotta road's on that lower end. But, bigger water... bigger fish! HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
smallmouthjoe Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 I love the different faces of the river we experienced. The last day we went to Rymer above Alley Spring and the water was small and swift, it reminded me of Bull Creek or the upper section of The Finley. Next summer I think I might try to float the entire river.
