No problem. It sounds like you had a great day, I wish I could have been out on the water but I was stuck at school and work. The Finley has the highest Rock Bass population of any river I've ever been on. They're nice because they keep you busy in between the smallmouth and largemouth. Take care.

a saw a small spot next to the Smyrna bridge to barely fit my jeep, with a trail. Anyone ever park there, w/o getting ticketed ? It looks like a good spot to put in, going up-stream.

How about parking on the side of Greenbridge road itself? Man, there is a lucky devil that lives right by the river there down a paved lot. I did a turn around in his drive today, what a good spot that is. Don't imagine he'd let me park in his driveway..... :D

i went to Smyrna bridge for a bit this morning. I did park at the exit of the bridge, then I noticed a sign on the other side of the bridge says no parking, tow away zone. I guess I got lucky. It was too shallow of a spot for me anyways, only little fish there

Went fishing on the Finley from Smyrna Bridge down to Riverside friday. What a beautiful day to be on the river. Saw a big doe about 25 yards from me standing in a riffle just checking things out. Caught quite a lot of smallies and goggle eyes. Had a great day. My question is, do any of you guys catch smallies of any size on the Finley? The biggest I have caught has been in 10-12" range with tons of small ones. They seem to look very healthy and have plenty of food in them river. They are very fun to catch, but was wondering do they get bigger? It may just be my fishing! Still loads of fun either way.

If I find myself catching lots of smaller fish, I'll switch to a little bit bigger bait. Sometimes it does the trick, sometimes not. Also, if it's summer, I'll try to stay away from slow moving plastics. Try throwing a spinnerbait or a WTD topwater, or even a jerkbait or fluke twitched frantically. I don't like using the word "smart," but if the bigger ones have the time to get a good look at your slow-moving plastic bait, they'll often figure you out. Throw something they don't have time to inspect, and their reflex is simply: "food...eat it!"
