Gatorjet Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Maybe just a silly thing, but I have been wondering for a long time why Trout jigs are tied with just the marabou, while Crappie jigs have a chenille body behind the head? I know that on the micro's up to maybe 1/8 oz they would be too small, but would it make a difference in the larger ones? Real men go propless!
Ham Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Give those crappie jigs a shot. They'll probably work a lot of the time especially in higher flows. Lower flows with really clear water might require a smaller jig that has better fit and finish. I fish Zig Jigs for trout. Great hook. Lots of color options and head sizes. Less expensive by the dozen, but still not cheap. Great product though. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
mhall02 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I've had great luck with crappie jigs for trout. The 1/32 white that Wal-Mart sells work great. The biggest trout I have ever caught on Taney fell to a 1/64 oz black crappie jig I bought at what was then Consumer's Grocery store in Branson.
Bird Watcher Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I wish I knew how many trout I have caught on crappie jigs over the years, especially rubber tube jigs where legal.
