The Niangua and te Eleven Point are fishing well too... But none of the locals there seems to need as much of a lesson on manners, SIR... Besides, everybody says there's some real monsters there, they'd look Good cooked in my king sized skillet! (j/k)

(now more politely)

THE OAF IS GOOD ABOUT TAKING A FUSHERY UNDER ITS WING, AND I AM HOPING THAT WE CAN DO SOMETHING TO WORK WITH THE LOCALS ON THE UPPER CURRENT. THE MORE CONTROLLED BUSINESS THAT COMES THAT WAY, THE BETTER YOUR ECONOMY WILL FARE, AND THE BETTER OFF YOUR FISHERY WILL BE.

I am headed out right now to go float and fish down to Akers.. Wish me luck?

You guys can organize any gathering you want to... you don't need me to sanction it. Although I'd back you 100% and attend if I can.

Just need someone to get it going and make arraignments if needed.

The one thing I've found though it to make it far enough in advance to allow people to schedule it. At least a month out.

There really are no locals on the upper Current. Controlled business??? Like prostitution? Gambling. :woohehe: :woohehe:

I would love to see your philosopher son create his own ID on here, the two of you seem like interesting characters, it'd be better if we could distinguish between the two of you (assuming I can get you to take my up on my "no more all caps" challenge ;) ) ..... Either way I, for one am glad to have your input, and here's an example of why:

The scudz giveth and the scudz taken away.. hehe We all realized you were attempting (again) to steer people clear of the current, and some of us even understand why. But then you go and give em some more tips! You truly are an interesting man, I'll look forward to hitting the river with you in October with my little maribous and my $19 shakespeare. Hopefully by then we can all be friends... sharing secrets on this little forum about our favorite rivers.. Who knows, give it a few years and you may have to come back here and read your own words just to remember what did work.. It's a bitch getting old, ain't it?

Uh, I would please beg to differ.

I'll admit that I didn't get to go to the Tan Vat area on sunday, but I did speak to plenty of locals between Cedar Grove and Akers Ferry. One local fishing from the bank that wasn't sure whether or not he was allowed to have those three 12-16 inch browns on his stringer! I counted 9 canoes or kayaks (all rentals), and only one other fisherman among them. I saw ONE fly fisherman (below welch spring) and he WAS a local (said he lived 20 miles away and fished there often). I counted 20 bank fisherman, most using bait. The point? If anyone feels that that particular stretch of the river is overfished or abused, they need look no further than their own back yard for the most probably solution. (I admit my study was a bit short and unscientific)

Just like down here on the niangua where the fisherman (foreign and domestic) are not an issue, it's the drunk floating idiots and the numerous local partiers that ruin the fishery.... But that's a different rant.

Controlled business??? Like prostitution? Gambling. :woohehe: :woohehe:

No, Scuds I don't mean boobies and craps, I mean Controlled Business. A fishery is a very viable business, and if you can't understand that already, then I'll just have to explain it the next time were on the river together. But the basic concept is that if people are going to come to the Current either way (AND THEY WILL, REGARDLESS OF OUR CONVERSATIONS OR THIS FORUM) then someone can and should step in and control and assist. Like the canoe outfitters and campsites.

Man, I really do feel where you are coming from, but all the anger in the world isn't going to change the fact that the Current will always get more traffic and more traffic and more traffic..

So are you ready to start taking people on guide trips? I'd like to volunteer to be your first customer, but only on two conditions:

1. You have to bring the philosopher along

2. You aren't allowed to bring ANY rope
