Members Doug Weston
I will be bringing some backpacks, hats, and other smaller items from the national guard. One friend of mine donated some money as well. I hope many people come out, it will be a good time and for a good cause. Members Doug Weston
There was a pretty good turn out for the tournament. I'll let someone else post the results, but 12 something lbs won today. I took my son Blake and we were able to find some topwater fish first thing. We didn't bag a keeper, in fact I think I/we caught the same 14 inch fish all day. Blake caught quite a few fish on a little yellow magic popper so he had a great time. We fished from Big bay to KC. Had some topwater, spoon, and drop shot fish, but no keepers. Put around 20 fish in the boat though. The drop shot fish were hanging out about 35 feet deep, but in deeper water to about 55 feet. Could not find anything on the bottom. Tried the back of big creek but no takers. I wanted blake to weigh in a fish, so even though I'm disappointed about that, I got to spend a day with him and he had a good time. (Bill B., He didn't go to sleep either...) It seemed like a tough day for big fish, but we had fun, and raised money for a good cause at the same time. JDC Baits
Donna G
Thanks, Eric. I know the family appreciates your support. We hadn't been to the Rock in awhile since we just finished up the CPAA team championship at Stockton and then started practicing for the pro-am championship at Bull, so we didn't make it to the scales. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.) Probably 25 shorts, but never could manage a keeper. Super nice giveaways, although I think those who stunk in the tournament should automatically get the big draw prizes. lol Since we didn't really have a pattern going, not sure if any input would be beneficial, but most of the fish came on a spinnerbait shallow, with a few on jigs and shakey heads. Tried a spook early and had a couple of blow ups, but no body committed. Some of the fattest short spots I've seen. One landed in the bottom of the boat and was 'swimming' upright on his fat little belly instead of flopping on his side. I don't think he could rollover. Thanks to all who participated. I know everyone has great demands on their time, but occasionally we have to set them aside and give back. All of us will stand in need of the kindess of others one day. Headed to Bull Tuesday. Take care. denjac
I too enjoyed the tournament. Was nice meeting some OAF folks. My son and I couldnt boat a keeper, lots of shorts on the jig, grub, spoon and spook. It was tough out there and showed with the weight brought in. I knew my bite was over on Sat, but didnt hunt new fish just stuck with them. Cant complain its been a feeding bonaza the last 3 weeks, those high skys and warm temps shut them down.
