Bman Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yeah, theres a boat ramp in Washington, down in the Riverfront park, about a mile from the bridge. I've lived right here, all these years, and only fished the river once. I gotta change that. And all the times I've driven by the Labadie power plant without even knowing..... Thanks, I guess the Labadie power plant must be close just down stream? Maybe I will see you there sometime this year...maybe Nov. The only good line is a tight line
ozark trout fisher Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 Thanks, I guess the Labadie power plant must be close just down stream? Maybe I will see you there sometime this year...maybe Nov. Yeah, just a few miles down I think... The Missouri has always intimidated me a bit, just so much water to fish. But I'm excited to get out and give it a try this fall. Hope to see you on the water.
rangerman Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 It is by far the easiest to put in on the Klondike ramp in St Charles County. The park is St Charles county Klondike park right off of Hwy 94. The ramp is located pretty much right across from the power plant. You really kind of have to wait for colder weather so the river clears a little bit.
esox niger Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 i must be boneheaded, but decided ther'd certainly be a place to park around the power plant and walk. nope, everything posted. so i had to resort to plan b and do a little off-season kayaking. bit of a haul actualy 1.4 miles up i think and then accross, couple little whirlpools at main channel was as freaky as it got. i kept looking upstream at the discharge thinking all i have to do is get there and i will be in fish heaven. wrong! i may have had a bite immediately after one cast but im not even sure about that. saw two fish downsriver of the outflow, not sure what. a carp slurping and a bass thrashing? . i was using some larger heavier flies maybe i shoulda tried a smaller clouser but ive never found the fish to be very selective personaly, my other thought was a surface fly but i didnt realy see any top action. the water seemed very warm, illusion? it was steamy up in there like a sauna, if my hands got cold i just put them in the water. next time i go i will wait till the river goes back down to 10-11ft on the st.charles gauge for a couple days and settles out. do people typically fish right up on the spillway or start where it meats the river and work down? also i was wondering what depth is typicaly fished there? Much appreciated Missouriflies.com Online Carp Fly Store
fishgypsy Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I haven't done a whole lot of it, but from what I've done angling and electrofishing they seem to tend to congregate around the mouths of smaller tributaries which are entering the main river. I've caught them out of Boeff Creek, as well as Perche Creek near Columbia. And those creek mouths- watch out for asian carp. If you're in a kayak, they shouldn't be a big deal. Hog Wally Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Okay so I've been in that Labadie hot water shoot twenty times and always bring white bass and hybrid type lures and haven't caught one yet. Snagged a couple legal spoons and a literal ton of Asians. Seen a guy catch a gigantic striped bass. Yes striped bass It was giant. That's what started my crazed twenty trips from Washington ramp down there but it is just so neat to get in there and sit in your tee shirt after reeling In too many Asians.
Hog Wally Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Went to Labadie yesterday Snagged a bunch of Asian carp tried for whites and hybrids. Not a bite. 68 degree water why they're not in there is beyond me. Ran up cheret creek till I came to the slab where the water violently comes through the pipe. 43 degree water. Tried everything. Negatory on bites
