fishing has really picked up, lots of trash int he water even before the construction at the dam began. Lots of good browns, nothing legal in the boat. but lots of 18-20 inch browns. some really nice bows, but they have ran smaller this year than the last couple. Friday was slower than past weekends, but still good.

Fishing has been better early in the am or late in the evening. Some of those late guys have caught some nice, really nice browns, below Buffalo there has been a flurry of catfish, larger ones, none have had tags from what I hear.

We have been catching brookies and cutthroats a buncg, but these are all in the 6 inch range.

Does anyone know if the hatchery ever grows them out larger???? in the regular rainbow size would prevent the browns from chowing down so bad on them.

We have caught some really fat bows in the area known as the Narrows, but foun d out why yesterday. a dock owner is feeding them and fishing in the frenzy.

River has been low really low and a lot of fun, there are several days we have caught over 100 fish per person.

One Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday and until noon Sunday my Army buddy and I landed over 700 fish for the boat. but we fished hard very hard had several 3 lbs rainbows Husky Jerks were the ticket for big fish.

I spoke with a hatchery worker about stocking size of the trout and he said that it was difficult to get the brookies and cutts to grow well beyond that 6-8 inch size. That's his take on it FWIW.

I have a buddy that considers the brookies and cutts to be expensive Brown trout food. :D I sure like catching them, but they don't really put tthat many in the system. Where you brookies close to one of the dams? I catch cutts scattered hither and yon, but my brookies are almost always pretty close to one or the other of the dams.

The White has been fishing very, very well. I got 50 in hand in under 3 hours of fishing down river from you a bit. Zig Jigs on 4 pound line. I'm going to have to stay out a little longer and get to 100. These are not fresh stockers either. Lots of nice 14-16 inch Bows with good color. Strong fish in the current. I have not fished Early or Late and I've caught NO Browns as a result.

The Brookies have been scattered. I have caught brookies all over this year. I have a friends thaqt raises mostly rainbows, but recently be stocked his ponds with Brookies and he loves them says they grow well. Dont know what strain he has but claims they can be a couple pounds in two years. Cutts seem to feed the herons alot.

I have had a couple really large browns to the boat but my net person dont move fast enough anymore. shes a good cook and does windows and laundry or I would find another net person (Joking) I tease her a lot over missing the fish.

But for the life of me I cannot figure out the last two weeks what has happened to the browns.

We have fished from the dam to Buffalo Point and every area that normally produces browns has failed.

Goota go work on fish at the sho. later.
