Members ltomczyk Posted September 10, 2009 Members Posted September 10, 2009 I read multiple posts about parking/access options. Heard something on the radio while driving into work that you might find interesting (and maybe already know.) But FEMA (Federal emergency agency) is buying the Riverside Inn property and tearing it down. Not sure of time frame. I am curious if you guys know more about this. It might open up a parking spot.
Danoinark Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Even more curiouser why would FEMA buy it in the first place? Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Flysmallie Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Even more curiouser why would FEMA buy it in the first place? From the Springfield News Leader; Christian County commissioners learned Tuesday that the county had received a federal grant to tear down the restaurant because of potential flooding hazards. Here is a link to the full article.

smallmouthjoe Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 So I guess that land will be county property. I wonder what they're planning on doing with it?
Terry Beeson Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Sell it to MDC? Make it Terry's private fishing spot? I'd like to hope it would be used for a park and access point. Maybe folks can petition for something like that. I'd sign it... eric1978 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 So I guess that land will be county property. I wonder what they're planning on doing with it? You would think that since they're using federal tax dollars to pay for the demolition and removal, the least they could do is create a public access and parking lot.
Members yamahammer Posted September 16, 2009 Members Posted September 16, 2009 Since Johnny Morris owns it, I'm guessing its a bunch of political garbage going on and Johnny and the county are going to line thier pockets to tear down what should be a landmark.

Yep. 1.7 Million to tear it down? I'm thinking I'll come down there with my sledgehammer and trailer and charge a cool million...they can keep the change. Think they'll go for it?
