denjac Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Fished this am from point 5 to point 7. The spook was king today and were still hitting it when I quit at noon . Jig and twin tail grub was good to but nothing like the spook bite. All smallies and ky. My best 5 were around 15 pounds all smallies. Dont think I had a short SJ all day. Kept the boat in 16- 20 ft of water. Did have some short spots and some nice keepers too. I took a couple of pics early before the rain, but didnt get the camera back out as I didnt want it to get wet. Good day in the rain! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. rps Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Thanks. I probably won't fare as well as you, but I'll try.
Members srpics Posted September 20, 2009 Members Posted September 20, 2009 I went out this morning with my sons from 7-12. Fished from Baxter to Aunts Creek with 4 or 5 keepers and about 10 shorts. We were about to give in to the rain at 10:00 when we found some whites just north of point 9. Caught around 70 of 'em before they shut down. My youngest (who is obsessed with fishing) said it was the best day of his life! Went home soaked to the bone but with some great memories.

Those whites/hybrids don't get the credit they deserve; for how much fun they are! - I was telling my wife, getting someone out on the water catching loads of whites/hybrids is the best way to addict them to fishing. Although it may spoil them a bit, they'll get the bug! - The limited time I've had on the water this year has mainly been chasing whites. No complaints, it's a heckuva good time; it'll just make it tough next time I'm after the ole black bass.
champ187xr6 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 SR Nice pics. I am sure the boys had a blast. Said I would report what not to do because the norm is what I do is not what should have been done. I am not a jig fisherman but decided to give it a try and was able to come up with a few. Was dragging it slow on pea gravel and caught enough to keep it interesting.
