MaxDrown Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 We're doing a day trip wade fishing the Little Piney on Oct. 10, 2009. I was wondering what flies y'all recommend we use and what is the recommended way to fish them? I think we'll be fishing around the Vida Slab area. -- Max Drown
Gavin Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Mohair leaches, small nymphs, and eggs work well most of the time. Good luck.

2sheds Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Copper Johns & Pheasant Tails sizes 12-16 on 6x & 7x. Also Don's Crawdad (smallest you can find/tie).
MaxDrown Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Thanks for the list of flies. I had a hard time losing flies on the bottom last trip. I don't really know how to fish most of the flies. Any suggestions on working techniques? -- Max Drown
Members Greg_s Posted October 16, 2009 Members Posted October 16, 2009 Thanks for the list of flies. I had a hard time losing flies on the bottom last trip. I don't really know how to fish most of the flies. Any suggestions on working techniques? In the fast runs, Czech nymphing works well. Otherwise, dead drifting nymphs has worked great for me. I have luck on green copper johns, tung teasers, and prince nymphs most of the time. There are always small olive woolly buggers, mohair leaches, and assorted egg colors with me for backup too.
