jeb
I was out yesterday from about 9-5 in the Rocky Branch area. Caught 3 nice LM/KY on jigs, and a few small ones. Water looked normal color-wise, but it was up several feet. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Members Wildeye
Thanks for the update jeb, that is close to where we plan to fish friday night/sat morning. Looks like the lake topped off around +5ft, i would rather deal with the dirty water than the logs and other floaters, especially at night time. BlueWave
Fished Thurs thru Sat A.M. Point 5 to the Dam. Very few Stripers located and none caught.. Toughest fishing I have had on Beaver. Picked up 2 small mouth on Wednesday very late on spook. Would like to hear how the rest of you did. These results have me second guessing.............. wily
we fished friday morning -- started about 7 and left about 1130. i saw a blue wave boat on the way back in and thought of you-- boat was on a point between clifty and starkey. we started at point 5 -- didn't have any luck -- the wind pretty much blew us out. so we moved down by point 8 -- was somewhat sheltered from the wind. only had one bite on a down line about 40 feet. then we moved back to point 5 area -- wind was still blowing so we moved to the mouth of little clifty and picked up another on a down line about 40 foot. both small -- 10 - 12 pounds or so. didn't see any top water fish...guide said needed some sun to get the bait closer to the top of the water column. Yep. That was us. We were on the most fish we found all week, 40' down in 75' of water. Trolled it with jigs and plugs, then worked it hard with spoons.no luck. Saw quite a few of Andriessen's boats in the area but did not see any one catching fish. Maybe it will settle down some and we will get on them next month. Good Luck!!! Members Wildeye
We had a tough weekend as well, boated a few spots and some sand bass and missed one good hit on a freelined shad on Saturday. Sunday we did a little better, landed an 18lber at first light on a planer board shad around deer island, and caught one more on a redfin at dusk in the same area. We blanked Monday morning in the same area, and didnt mark much at all so we moved up lake around point 5, but had trouble fighting the wind. We landed one nice spot that evening and that was it. Mud line was just below hwy 12 bridge on Saturday, and was above the bridge as we drove by around noon on Tuesday, water temps mostly in the 62-65 range. wily
i think the some of the problem that we have in the fall is that we're using too big of shad. the striper's seem to be eating the small shad fry, and we're using 4-6 inchers.
