Larry Richards Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I have to go with Yellow Creek in Nor.Calif.Not because there are giant fish in there but because of the beauty. It is a winding meadow creek full of browns that love Hoppers. You wear camo and sometimes you have to sneak up on them on your hands a knees. The creek comes out of the ground just above the Meadow and TU campground and once leaving the meadow it flows into a deep canyon where goes about 20 miles and joins the North fork of the Feather River.Because it is a spring creek the water remains a constant temp year around. Most of the time I was the only fisherman on the creek.
KCRIVERRAT Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Wondering if anybody on the forum has ever fished the Gunnison down in the Black Canyon? My wife's cousins have hiked down for years to fish it. Four hour's down and eight back up. They've got some mounts on the wall from their trips. I've been there but haven't hiked down to fish it. Took some video with my father-in-law holding the back of my jeans while I hung over the edge. If ya ask me... that's a pretty good father-in-law! HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

Members Troutgod1 Posted October 15, 2009 Members Posted October 15, 2009 I think my favorite river(creek) other than my home water would have to Flat Creek, that starts in cassville and ends down near Galena Mo. In certain parts of this creek you'll find trout, and they are fun, some trout over 11 pounds have come out of flat creek over the years. I like it cause you can catch everything out of this creek, smallmouth, largemouth, gogleye, catfish, and on the lower side closer to the lake, you can get crappie and white bass, and the white bass and crappie will move way up the creek sometimes, I've caught crappie as high as the bridge on EE hwy. It is a great creek to float and it doesn't get the pressure, some of the rivers get in the summer.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 South Platte in CO.. Humboldt area to be specific. Below Deckers. Phil and I hiked in Chereseman one year .. maybe 1996 or so...I got a coupla of pics of him casting on a boulder... really nice. The boulder was like 30 feet large. I drove there myself 4 years in a row after that, camping it out mainly. I woke up one morning after sleeping in the river parking lot in my truck to see AK Best, Ed Engle and John Geriach drinking coffee 3 cars down from me. I was shocked. AK gave me some flies... an Evettes spinner pattern was the bees knees! best fishes, Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I'm going to have to go with the San Juan. I've only been lucky enough to fish it 1 time and that was with my dad when I was 15. We did a drift boat trip and my dad never fished. LOL, just took pictures and watched me fish. It was an amazing trip on an amazing piece of water. Something I'll never forget for as long as I live... In a close second, the Current River in the spring time when the Caddis come off in SWARMS. Dry fly action non-stop, one of my favorite trips. I haven't been out West besides to San Juan...but I'm young, but you can bet your bottom dollar I've got a "To Fish List" that I've already started and it involves many trips to Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
MaxDrown Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Flaming Gorge Tailwater... the Green River. Spectacular rock walls, torrent water, pockets full of large trout taking small dries and midge flies. Amen, brother. The browns on dries are amazing. The Green is my favorite trout river. For those that haven't seen the Green, here are the photo albums from my two trips: http://picasaweb.google.com/maxdrown/Green...e2008AllPhotos# http://picasaweb.google.com/maxdrown/200905GreenRiver# -- Max Drown

It really is a great river, but it's so crowded up in zone a. That's why I prefer it's tributaries in Colorado, mainly the White and the Yampa. But the Green is a great river, don't get me wrong.

I remember back in 2003 I hooked a nice fish just above the big boulder. I had to climb on top of it to get the line around it, climb back down to land it 100 yards down stream. It was a very nice 20" brown. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
