Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 13, 2009 Root Admin Posted October 13, 2009 Fished from 9 - 1 pm today. Drifted (that's about all you can do) a white 1/8th oz jig from the dam to the ramp with some success. Wind, again, was tough. I gave up. Dropped down to Lookout and drifted a tan #10 scud on a spinning rod and did much better. Rolan Duffield is here this week and they've done well using a gray #10 scud drifting down the middle. Lots of nice rainbows. Caught this one at the bottom of one drift on the flats - "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="580" height="360">
Fly_Guy Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Saw you... in your boat... from the bank.... To whoever may be reading this report - if you are fishing by the bank, fishing is miserable unless you are one of the 83 people huddled around each of the outlets. I found a couple of secluded spots and tried with a white jig and next a jigging spoon, and not a bite. I was suprised - I can usually fool a few with the silver jigging spoon. Crummy cold day, w/ water up that much, and more rain coming. If you are coming to Taney, either come REAL early (like around 4:30 of 5 - to get your spot at the outlet) or have a boat. On a side note, I saw a ball of about 20 shad or so. Also a large hawk with a trout. Also a cool video of a 30 lb brown trout in the other post for today.

Bill Babler Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Tremendious afternoon on upper taney with a group that Steve Dickey had booked. 5 guide boats, fishing scuds and egg patterns in the restricted zone and orange gulp powerbait from Fall Creek to Short Creek. Our boat had close to 50 fish with lots in the 16 inch class. The other boats did the same, all catch and release. These fish are in fantastic shape, bulging at the sides, just full of scuds, in kind of a tan dark green from I believe size 8 to size 22. Everytime I would handle a fish they would "Up-Chuck" a load of scuds. If you looked in their mouths they were just lined with scuds. I litterly had some scuds so big, spit up in the boat, I was tempted to hook them and try them from Fall Creek down. Taney is fishing just about as good as it can on the upper strectches, Man this is fun. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
