Ham Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Fished with cajunangler on BSL yesterday. We found water temps of 65-68 and fish biting. We had good numbers with some decent sized fish as well. Weather was interesting. Water was still very clear despite being up over 8 foot by days end. The fish DO NOT seem to mind the rising water. We fished a variety of locations and caught fish everywhere we tried. Some areas were better than others. I look for the bite to improve as the water temps drop. I'll fish for bass until water gets too cold for a jig bite and then turn my full attention to the trout. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Forsythian Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Thanks Ham... did you find the fish were still relating to last week's locations, or had they moved up? Planning to take the boy out of Elbow/ Buck Creek this weekend. 2 weeks ago I was fishing a jig in the 15 - 25 foot range, was wondering if I need to add 8 feet to that. Thanks again Cenosillicaphobiac
Ham Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Some of our fish came from VERY shallow water. Lots of our fish were high in the water column. I doubt we caught a fish frim > 20 foot water all day. I'd say take at east 8 foot off of the depth you were fishing last week. This was my first fishing trip to BSL since 7-3-09. Forsythian Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Late report from last weekend: it was very tough for us. We fished the Music Creek area. We found sublegal smallmouth suspended well off the bank, and sublegal walleye on main and secondary points. We did not catch a kentucky or a largemouth one. Probably stuck with the crankbaits too long, but it seemed the bite was definitely off. Lots of rigs at Buck Creek on Saturday, I'm guessing a club tourney... anybody here fish it? Cenosillicaphobiac
Ham Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 I'm sorry ya'll didn't catch em better. I'm in the middle of a long stretch of working so I can't remember what the weather was like last Saturday. We had perfectly miserable weather for mammals which was perfect for fishing. Give me clouds and wind this time of year and I feel like I can catch a few fish. I was further down lake than you were. I don't usually fish the immediate area close to Lakeview, but I do fish the stuff closer to Mt Home than Buck MOST of the time. I'll try to get back after them soon.
