Kayser Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I was hoping to do a float on the Meramec from Scotts Ford Access to Riverview Access, as a one day float. I was mainly curious if I could get a car (dodge stratus) into both of these accesses, as a shuttle vehicle. I have a jeep to haul the canoe with. Is it worth trying? How long should the float take? Is the fishing decent? Are too many cool-weather idiots like myself to even bother trying this? Or, is it one of the better ideas I've had? Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.

Rob Yes, you can get a car to both accesses, but I'd take the jeep anyway. If you need a shuttle call Skip at Green's Canoe (573) 775-5595. Call him at least the day before you go to set it up. He'll take you wherever on the upper Meramec for a very reasonable price. Pretty much everyone on this forum is a cool-weather idiot. I did a stretch above Scotts Ford yesterday, and did Riverview to 19 two weeks ago. Caught fish on both floats. I plan to go again next week if the weather and work schedule permits. The fish will remain catchable all year, although it's a really tough bite after the water drops into the 30s. Not sure when you plan on going, but I'd think twice about going this weekend. The water was still up yesterday from the rain we had last week, and with the additional heavy rain today, I would think the river is probably gonna be unfishable and perhaps unfloatable for at least several days.
Kayser Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 Well, I'm out for the next few weekends, seeing as duck season is opening (IL then MO), but I might make a trip on the 14th, barring how dangerous the deer hunters in the area are... cwc87 Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Rivers are coming up again (muddy) at least the giggers aren't gettin any chances of mistaken any gamefish.
