Fishin' Freak Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Does anyone know what is leading either of the derbys on the Rock today. I know CPAA had a team derby and I think there is a MO Federation tournament of some sort as well. Just wondering if anyone knew what was leading either.
Donna G Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Don't know about MBCA, but CPAA Team Shoot-Out top three: Peter Wenners / Brian Snowden - 16.17 Mike Webb / Tim Sainato - 15.86 Bobby Sullivan / Matt Jones - 13.90 Sullivan and Jones had a big bass 7.71 I think with only 4 fish. It's a 2-day tournament with 25 boats paying two places $7,000 first and $3,000 second. There is a big bass pot and a side pot, as well. We had 4 for 8.45 and were in the same boat as a lot of folks with only 4 fish. It's a combined 5-fish limit for the team. Fishin' Freak Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Thanks Donna! How did things end up today (Sunday)? Mostly smallies and spots weighed in this weekend or were there quite a few blacks brought to the scales. Thanks
Donna G Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Thanks Donna! How did things end up today (Sunday)? Mostly smallies and spots weighed in this weekend or were there quite a few blacks brought to the scales. Thanks Well, now there is a very interesting story behind that. One I'm not sure Champ wants me to tell. We had 4 fish Saturday and 4 Sunday, but if you look at the results you will see a zero on day two. We were pressing hard to get #5 and when we finally pulled up the trolling motor and headed in, Champ said he wasn't sure we would make it in time. Smooth water and not a lot of boat traffic gave us hope. We hit the buoys at 3 p.m. on the nose, but I'm thinking "Where is everybody?" The parking lot was almost empty and the weigh-in trailer was gone. Seems when President Bush changed the dates of daylight savings time, he forgot to tell our GPS. This past weekend would have been when the time changed originally instead of this coming weekend. Kelly Power and Jim Thompson met us at the ramp with our trailer telling us how worried they had been and that it was 4 p.m. They were about ready to call the water patrol. It's a warm feeling to know anglers look out for each other. Thanks, guys. Oh, well. Our bag wouldn't have put us in the money. Did have a good time and caught some nice fish. A couple of the smallies were very energetic. I had a keeper LM on a drop shot in front of a dock slip that went airborne on me when I was fighting to unravel the braid that had wrapped around my reel. Champ said he had never seen a LM jump that high. He estimated 5 feet. lol That would have been our fifth fish. We'll be at Beaver next weekend fishing the UA bass fishing team benefit derby. Take care. Donna G Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

We were thinking about going to the rock this weekend but we may stay in town and fish Beaver instead.......thanks.
sfiser Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 The UA tournament is next weekend. I want to say the entry is $80 and I know the first place prize is $1,000 gift card to hook line and sinker tackle shop in Rogers. You can do some serious damage there with $1,000. Aaron runs a really nice tackle shop

Don't know about results but there was a white Nitro Z-9 fishing in front of the house this morning with one angler in the bow and a camerman in the stern seat with a very large, professional-looking camera taping every cast. They were closely followed by another guy in another white Nitro and they zoomed down the bluff with the trollers on high making rapid fire casts with no success. Both boats took off to another spot together. No names or sponsors on either boat so have no idea who it was.
dtrs5kprs Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 That would have been our fifth fish. Well Donna at least you can look at the positive side...you weren't late with a limit At least you were able to play with a few.

"Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
skeeter Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Today? On Table Rock? Somebody must have been making a T.V. show or something. Yep, Friday morning in the Baxter area about 8 o'clock. No clue seen on the boat or the angler as to sponsor or anything to I.D. who it was. Can only assume the second boat was for the cameraman to hop into when they wanted shots of the guy fishing alone in the Nitro. Very large camera held on the shoulder like you see for TV news and stuff. They were sure in a hurry, coming, going and fishing.
