Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 27, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 27, 2006 Although I have said they didn't need to build a new stadium- the old stadium was more than adequate- the new Busch Stadium is a very nice baseball show piece. There are some quirks- we were fortunate to be given 4 season seats in section 150, just behind homeplate, 19 rows up for today's game vs Pittsburg- just behind the section in the concession area there is a men's and women's bathroom both very small. There was a line out the door the whole game- my son complained- I said to go down the 'hall' to another bigger one. And there was a bigger one not more the 100 feet away that wasn't crowded. Word will get around I guess- but why put the small ones in?? Small potatoes... I've heard the foul poles are issues. But my gosh- I don't think there's a bad seat in the place- everything is close to the field. Great game today too.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Phil - another member of the board had the same complaint about the correct lack of bathroom facilities.. but it was more geared to the women's then the mens. This past fall I had the great joy of attending a home game at Lambeau Field to watch the Green Bay Packers LIVE in WI.. and I tell you -- thems are some really small bathrooms compared to the amount of people who need to go when you would like to also go. I was told - if you an pass the Lambeua Field test, you can pass any stadium. ( I saw one guy go in a cup while still standing in line ) I bet you got a little peppered inside when Izzy gave up that shot to Hernandez in the 9th with 2 out tp tie.. but elated beyond belief when Pujols came thru to finish out the win. We are so blessed to have Pujols healthy this year.. he has singlehandedly won more than 3 games for us already. We will see againsnt WASH - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
jOrOb Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Isringhausen giving up a HR to Pitt to blow a save, that's just crazy talk!! To me, that is a concern, since Izzy is a mainstay. But then he is known to start slow, so I am sure he will work it out. Pujols is a talent no doubt, but some production from the outfield would be nice. Where is Edmonds??? jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 27, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 27, 2006 Edmonds or Rolin didn't play... disappointing but that's baseball. So was Pujols 2 intentional walks. I think by midseason, there will be another closer at St Louis. Issy's lost his stuff- at least the 'stuff' it takes to take a team to the championship. He'd make good stock for a great trade.
jOrOb Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 You might be onto something. Izzy has not performed at the same level as in the past. It will be interesting to see if they try to trade for a closer or build one from within. Midseason may show a different Cardinal organization altogether. Neither Edmonds or Rolen have been much of a factor, this year or the previous year in the playoffs. I would say Edmonds needs to get his game back real soon or he will find himself batting in that 7 spot. He is still valuable defensively, so I don't see a trade. Rolen just needs to get healthy! It will be an interesting year either way. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
ColdWaterFshr Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Edmonds returned to form last night. Got some nice help from Spezio and Encarnacion, too. And Little Eck just keeps on chuggin. Saw my first game at the new stadium last night. I wasn't all that impressed with it. It has some more wide-open areas which are nice. The standing room only area behind home-plate is a great view, but my seat in section 132 wasn't anything special. Lots of plain-jane concrete, steel beams, it reminds me of a warehouse. I'm sure the luxury boxes are a big improvement, but everything else being equal, what more are we really getting? Oh, a better view of downtown and a little more view of the arch. A colossal waste of dough I say.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 28, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 28, 2006 So the standing room behind home plate is just that... anyone can sit or stand there? I was wondering. There was a family of 4 sitting in folding chairs at the rail there and I thought.. is that first come first get? I didn't see any ushers regulating the area at all- as a matter of fact I didn't see any attendants at all. Our seats were on the isle adjacent to the standing platform to the 3rd base side. I'm grateful to George Steffen for the gift. As for the game... I watched a game a couple of weeks ago where, on a reply, showed the dugout as Pujols hit a home run. I noticed Rolen didn't show any emotion or reation to the play while everyone else jumped up in glee. I wondered then and do now... I wonder if he's out-the-door and knows it... or maybe he just had a bad day.
Members J-Mar Posted May 22, 2006 Members Posted May 22, 2006 I was at the game in KC today... look at the sea of red, haha!
Kicknbass Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Looks like Busch. The Royals sure have gone down hill since '85. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
