laker67 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Alright tippet, It is a pine/marabou streamer. I tried "searching" Pmj* but only found one thread describing it but no pic's or instructions. Help me out here. I've tied pine squirrel zonkers for a while but shame on me never knew of this pmj. In 03 maybe 04, some college boys from springfield fished it at night on taney. That was the first time I can remember seeing it. They tied a black on black and caught alot of fish. Every time I ran into them, they would give me one or two. Centerpunch fished another version of it about a year later.

OK go to the top of the home page and click on Lilleys tacklestore.com, then jigs, Keeneys jigs and look at the PMS jigs, olive, black etc. F2F
brownieman Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I don't know what a PMJ is either...Peanut butter, mayo and jelly perhaps. Always a smart *ss in the crowd, huh, lol. later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
FishinCricket Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Teeny craws, one inch wonders and lazy ikes troll really well, spoons like the Lil Cleo or the Kastmaster are deadly in high water, but you gotta get the retrieve exactly right or NO DICE! cricket.c21.com
Fly_Guy Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Add to the list small jigging spoons (one of my largest Taney browns was caught on a 1 1/2 inch long silver jigging spoon by outlet one in high water), as well as Crickhoppers (similar to the teeny craws cricket mentioned) Rebel minnows (small and medium sized), and small in-line spinners. Besides flies (which I usually use), I have caught trout in Taney on all the above. Oh yeah - another DEADLY techinque is to shuffle your feet a whole bunch in low water, and quickly net right behind you. (JOKING!!!)
brownieman Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 FGuy, seines work much better than nets after the ole 'Scud Shuffle, lol...also helps corral em up a little tighter in those outlets, lol. later My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Fly_Guy Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 FGuy, seines work much better than nets after the ole 'Scud Shuffle, lol...also helps corral em up a little tighter in those outlets, lol. later I was fishing one summer when a non-local was doing the whole 'scud shuffle' as you put it - he was shuffling like mad around outlet #1 - not even trying to be sneaky - and calling his buddies over "Hey guys - come over here and kick around - look at all these fish!!!!" He had half the trout in upper Taney crowded around his feet. Finally someone had enough and pointed out the posted signs. I bet some of y'all see this quite a bit. I started fishing Taney when I was about 12 (I think it was before the posted 'no shuffling' signs) - and the first time I fished I found that doing it produced fish. Thank goodness after catching a few I realized that it just felt wrong fishing that way. I'd rather get skunked (which I have once). Didn't mean to highjack the topic. In the intrest of contributing something relevant, I would also like to nominate the smallest size Daredevil spoons. One really important point about spoons is to make sure you have a swivel or split ring of some kind, or, in the case of the Daredevils (which have no split rings) is to make sure you can tie a loop knot. Smaller loop the better, but a spoon has to have some play to it.
laker67 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 HEy FLyguy. When did they post "no shuffle" signs?
Fly_Guy Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 To be honest - I couldn't tell you - them might have had them posted when I first came down - but I only noticed them about 2 years ago or so. They aren't bright pink "NO SHUFFLING" signs - but a reminder about disturbing the gravel and sportsmanship or something to that effect. There is (or at least there was - unless someone tore it down - one close to the ladder. Perhaps someone else would know?
brownieman Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 If there is such a sign it must be down by the wilderness area around outlet 3, lol. later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
