In 03 maybe 04, some college boys from springfield fished it at night on taney. That was the first time I can remember seeing it. They tied a black on black and caught alot of fish. Every time I ran into them, they would give me one or two. Centerpunch fished another version of it about a year later.

Probably was a few I tied anyways!

My apologies Leonard. I did not mean to imply that you did not tie the original. I was just referring to the first time that I saw and used the fly. The boys from springfield called their fly a "haywood" named after one of their professor's.

Thank you for the validation. Your comment about the dubbing material is good. Years ago we called them fur bugs. You had to give them a buggy name even though they were just a ball of fur.

Does anyone have a short list of their favorite Rooster Tails that are most productive on Taneycomo?

Toe jam makes a deadly fly...disolves slowly and the scent drives them stupid bo bos crazy.

Yep...the secret's out now, that world record brown I just caught was soaked in toe jam water for several days, I had a feeling it would work, lol.

Almost forgot...I got a place down on the Current for sale right above the nicest hole on the river...I'll let it go cheap.

Lost the paperwork on the place but I'll hand write anyone that wants it a note stating it's on the up and up.

I'll post pics of the place if anyone's interested.

later

My friends say I'm a douche bag ??

I have fished countdown rapalas on the white and caught huge rainbows and nice browns. I never catch fish on Taney like I do on the White. On the white we fish gold and black and throw them 90 degrees to the bank and reel them fast back to the boat. I only catch them on rooster tails when trolling.
